I’ve never been afraid of the dark…but that doesn’t mean I wanted to live in it. And maybe everyone wants what they can’t have, but I should’ve thought it over before I accepted the key and unlocked the door to their forbidden world.

Number One is mostly silent. He watches me with them very carefully. His gaze never wanders. His interest never wanes.

Number Two is mostly gentle. But it’s the other side of him I like best. The wild side.

Number Three is mostly reserved. He refuses to cross the line. Even when I beg.

It was carnal, it was sensual, and it was erotic. That’s it. That’s all it was supposed to be. A trip into the dark. A peek into the forbidden.

I just didn’t expect to like them.

I heard the door open and close and said nothing. And the footsteps coming down the hallway towards the bedroom. I even heard him say, “Hey.” So softly. “You awake?” Like he didn’t want to wake me.

I listened as he stepped into the closet. There was that slick sound a man makes when he pulls his tie through his shirt collar. I heard the unclasping of his watch. The jingle of his belt buckle and the shuffle of his pants as they dropped to the floor.

I even heard his moan as he stood over me. I could feel his shadow from the streetlamp outside like it was heat.

Then the bed creaked, the mattress sank. And his warm, hard body straddled me.
Still, I said nothing.

I just buried my face in the sweet scent of the pillow and closed my eyes, feigning sleep.

“Rochelle,” he whispered, leaning over me. His fingertips gently brushed the hair away from my shoulder. His mouth pressed against my skin. “Did you miss me? God, I’ve missed you. Two weeks is too long. We need to renegotiate.”

He nipped my neck. Kissed it. Licked my ear as he positioned himself to begin.

And I said… nothing.

Even though my name is not Rochelle.
That’s why I’m here. Tied up and gagged inside the closet. Sitting in the dark as three men on the other side of the door argue about where Rochelle went, why I was in her bed, and what they should do next.

I should be scared but I’m not.

I should be screaming, but I won’t.

Because this just feels very, very right.

And the only thing on my mind is… what will happen next?

Taking Turns (Turning, #1)

Taking Turns by J.A. Huss
My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

This was so much more than what I was originally expecting; what I was anticipating here was a really hot menage type or quad as this actually has four participants and while this was certainly steaming hot in nature and intent this was also so much more than that.
Totally surprised me this did and in a totally good way as well.
This story revolves around a game; A very adult dark game called taking turns.
And what we have here is a decadent descent into all that is sensual and sexy as our girl Chella spirals further down the rabbit hole as she explores in depth her inert hidden nature.
Smith, Quin and Bric all aboard this ride also and all with there own particular reasons for playing.
One, Two and three each with there own set of bizarre rules agreed on by all; the end game, well it’s all four finally playing together as one whole.
As our tale evolves it quickly becomes apparent that one player is much more invested in the prize and is determined to win by giving Chella exactly what she needs to enable her to move forward with himself as her ultimate home.

I will give you that, Chella. I will fill in the deep, dark hole you’re so desperate to cover up with whatever it is you’re doing here with us, and I will make your longing go away. That’s my present.

So I adored all the men here But my hands down favourite was Smith; He has such a quirky atypical guy and I adored the fact he was just so intense and didn’t play with a full deck.
He was my main man here all the way.
The others were OK and all but Smith just had that slight edge for me.
So this was an excellent read that was seriously and surprisingly very emotive.
If I had one criticism here for me it would have been Chella herself I did find her at times to be slightly unreasonable in her attitudes to others.
Well mainly Smith if I’m being honest I think she treated him rather unfairly originally and it got my back up hence the half a star deduction.
As a whole, this is one that I’m happy to recommend just be aware before embarking here this is a romance with multiple partners and is fairly explicit in nature if you’re like me then that last sentence will only entice you to want to read this more.
Taking Turns (Turning, #1) is the first instalment in a new series but this can be read as a standalone as far as I am aware the next part continues on with Rochelle’s story.
So I managed to grab this when it was free so I lucked out there folks.
All opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own thoughts.

/ ARC Book Review / Scarred (Demons of Hell MC Book 1) / Elizabeth Knox /

Release Date-28th July 2018
Genre-MC Romance
Kindle Edition-235 Pages

I had it all, or at least I did according to everyone else.
I had the club, I had the most powerful husband, the Prez of the Demons of Hell MC.
I had a family.
He’d told me time and time again the club was my “family”.
My “family” let a lot of things happen to me that shouldn’t of.
My “family” did a great job of turning a blind eye.
My “family” was great at letting me be the punching bag for their mistakes. For all of his pent-up anger and frustrations.
My “family” was the reason I almost died.
When Rage came into my life I saw nothing else.
His name was a warning and I didn’t listen.

Scarred (Demons of Hell MC Book 1)

Scarred by Elizabeth Knox
My rating: 2.5 of 5 stars

This was a tale of two halves for me; one in which I really wish I could have liked much better than I did.
Ultimately It just wasn’t for me and though I have previously loved books of this particular author “Scarred” (Demons of Hell MC Book 1) just didn’t do it for me at all.
The first two-thirds of this story may not have blown me away but I was still somewhat onboard and invested in the relationship developing between Roxy and Vince.
I did struggle to feel the connection and also understand how he had looked sideways for years considering his overall feelings towards Roxy, but I tried to overlook that slightly due to the emerging story dynamic and its potential for some dramatic grovelling and explosive probable blowback.
But then everything seemed to go to hell in and a handbasket and I was left floundering around in the dark.
At around two thirds into this the whole relationship, dynamic changed completely and I didn’t like it at all.
We had new entities in the form of two other males and a female brought into the equation and for me, it just didn’t work.
We have the random use of the word daddy which just seemed to come abruptly out the blue and while when done in a certain way can certainly be hot here it just felt plain weird and a bit Eww.
I also didn’t believe considering Roxy’s background that she would be so up for these type of encounters; I mean the girl had been shared amongst her husband’s cronies for years; I just can’t see it myself.
I also struggled with just how graphic some of the situations portrayed here were after years of abuse at the hands of her husband and MC I would have liked to see Roxy catch a break not be placed back in such horrific circumstances.
And then there’s poor Amy I just didn’t see the need for her particular fate.
I did like the ending here but would still really like more of an explanation into why Rage is the way he is; I mean the guys certifiably nuts; surely there is more of an overall reason for his irrational actions towards his wife.
The epilogue here for me also raised more questions; why now after thirteen years is Rage stepping out of the woodwork? Why leave it so long?
So Look this really wasn’t my flavour but that’s not to say it won’t be yours.
I have read Elizabeth Knox books that I have absolutely adored this one just wasn’t my particular bag. It had its moments and if I’m honest I enjoyed the first half much more than the second.
It wasn’t actually badly written we just didn’t click and I struggled with the overall violence here.
I’m no stranger to these type of storylines but I think with such violence and dark behaviour a counterbalance of extremities is needed to balance things out slightly.
You know that we are soul mates till the end of days and I will love you till my dying breath sort of affection; something that isn’t voiced just felt deep within; but I really didn’t feel that emotion here and maybe that’s where my issues lie.
It just seemed to me to be cruelty and brutality for shock-value rather than the added progression of the overall storyline.
So sorry I couldn’t like this more than I did.
Finally a warning this book has some very hard-core rape and abuse scenes please do avoid if this is at all a trigger for you.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of “Scarred (Demons of Hell MC Book 1)” of which I have reviewed voluntary.

/ ARC Book Review / Steel (Dark Monster Fantasy #2) / Cari Silverwood /

Release Date-30th June 2018
Genre-Sci-Fi Romance
Kindle Edition

Steel is TOTALLY a standalone read.

Baz Rutland

A lost soul, a cyborg in search of a future. He aims to upgrade his most intimate tool and BIG and HARD will do, but what does a man really need to be perfect again?

A Principle Data extraction expert employed by CESS Industries – a princess in lay terms. She’s in search of her past and her parents but who is she really? If she ever finds out who killed her parents, she will rain destruction down upon them, in some nerd-geek way, like by remote-opening the airlocks on their ship so they die horribly.

Her biggest secret and fetish is her love of the BIG guys, like the orcs, but she would never ever act on that unless she had nothing left to lose.

Half-Orc, half Shag, and a hairy beast, he shaves to blend into the mass of humanity populating the galaxies. All he has ever wanted is to be wanted in return, to be loved and find a mate. But what hope of that when he’s a rejected half-breed?

Like PREY, this book is not gritty uber-dark such as Cari Silverwood often writes. It is the pansy dark you reach for when you’re all darked out and one step from seeing a therapist.

It’s carnal, naughty, and very twisted, and not what your mother ever wanted you to read. Also, there may be some robots that go PEW PEW.

Steel (Dark Monster Fantasy, #2)

Steel by Cari Silverwood
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Release Date-30/6/18

“Hey. Cyborg Man. Is this a good day for rescuing princesses?”

So I bloody adored “Steel” like just so much; it was such a mish-mash of carnal, sci-fi delight with a dash of slapstick humour and a big glug of ridiculousness to accompany its also surprisingly emotive trio.
I am such a mega nerd for weird-ass shenanigans and this book had it going on in absolute spades.
Enough to satisfy even the most ardent of fornication outside the species zealots.
And here to quote the cyber-monks themselves we get treated to a big fat dollop of down and dirty Orc/Human/Cyborg porn and is it wrong that whilst also curling my toes with totally salacious delight my heart itself was also doing a pitter patter of pure bliss whenever that big sexy and did I mention big; yep I did; ( brain kinda short-circuiting here folks ) Orc/Shag up and purred for his potential mate.
Not gonna lie here; I’m such a sucker for any throaty deep purr of the feline sort, so totally suggestive and seductive in its purpose and intent.
Cross that with a crabby but amped up Cyborg and I’m in heaven; like a kid in a sweetshop with an overabundance of goodies, that’s me.
“Steel” was a raunchy romp totally worthy of its slapstick label and I mean that as a total compliment here people.
The main protagonist’s of this story here are one; Ember, Human of unknown origin, PRINCESS of CESS Industries.
A Principle Data extractor extraordinaire in fact with a weird invisible friend and a self-assigned quest to discover her past Ancestry.
Two; Hoss A mixed breed of Orc/Shag parentage employed by CESS as Embers guard and protector; a huge sexy beast with a massive penchant for his luscious charge and a very real desire to make her his mate no matter how much their particular union would be frowned upon.
And finally Three Baz; a grumpy disgruntled Cyborg who along with his crew is trawling the dead-space in his junk bucket of a ship; just looking to rescue a Princess for the Cyber-monks in return for an upgrade of the intimate variety.
So that’s the main gist here really and when these three misfits destinies collide its a non-stop race of classic one-liners, ridiculous plotlines and some seriously filthy hook-ups that as well as being pure smut was also so much fun to kick back and just revel in..
It’s almost like a carry on film of the sci-fi steampunk variety and I myself inhaled the cockamamie Narrative like it was oxygen and the more farcical and absurd events played out; the more I devoured like the whole nine yards and more.
So “Steel” is like seriously knicker dripping or dropping fine.
Everything wrong about this also makes it so right.
I had a mega hard-on (If I had one that Is) for Hoss; such a delicious Orc/Shag, I adored his furry ass like a whole bloody lot.
He for me was hands down my favourite thing in this whole Zany pantomime; with Maybe Baz’s Monster mechanical appendage coming in a very close second.
What can I say; I am a female after all and Baz’s cyborg enhancements well let’s just say Anne summers eat your heart out.
Hoss was the one ultimately in charge of this threeway here and for me, that worked you know with me being like his own personal fan club and all.
I was all for the Hoss.
So I think its safe to say here from my above noise I really was digging the whole entire she-bang here.
This isn’t really going to be for everyone of course, but if you like something a bit out of the box and outside the traditional then maybe take a chance on this, you might even surprise yourself.
On a side-note, the Orc featured here Hoss is way up on the attractive scale despite his monobrow; and not at all like the minging ORCS from Tolkien; just saying; being The official Spokeswoman for the Hoss fan-club and all wanted to put that out there.
Don’t Diss the Hoss he’s a total Orc babe

Release Date-13/3/18

Snow And The Seven Huntsmen does what it says on the tin.
It’s fun filthy reverse harem smut.
Heavy on the dub-con and I mean heavy it leans more towards Non-con if I’m being honest.
But with snow being a lot of a masochist, well it’s not long before she’s playing along.
Girls like the energiser bunny, it’s tiring just trying to keep up with her.
That girl just keeps on going and going !!!!

 photo tumblr_oq0puqzsAT1ro8ysbo1_500_zpsoe7pyw7k.gif

So if you looking for high brow storylines this isn’t the tale for you.
The title here says it all This is a very dark alternative to the tale of snow white.
But instead of Seven Dwarves, here we have seven kinky huntsmen who want in Snows pants.

 photo 22a2a6ce96bf7bc3247dbcba4f5d97b3_zps1vefhvo9.jpg

This isn’t angsty it’s basically snow getting down and jiggy with her boys.
Its written all from Snows POV.
I would have liked to maybe see inside some of the Huntsmen Heads as well, as they did come across as very domineering with little kindness and warmth from the majority of them.
Having that window, maybe I could have connected with them a bit more.
There’s a loose backstory here about the evil queen coming after her, but that’s all it is in the background.
I did enjoy “Snow And The Seven Huntsmen”, this was basically a bit of kinky fun that hits that sweet spot.
It’s a well written, raw, filthy, fantasy.

One Too ManyOne Too Many by Jade West

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Release Date-26/2/18

“One Too Many” for me was such an interesting and diverse read.
Whilst not my favourite of Jade’s books I still enjoyed and appreciated this very much.
This was certainly a very different read from the norm and I think that is what I found so intriguing about this.
The emotions explored here were very easy to get lost in and I found that this did manage to convey to me the deep sentiment that comes from knowing your partner inside out.
Perhaps not as much so in the beginning, But certainly later when Bret and Grace started to reconnect within there relationship.
Also, a side effect brought forth unwittingly by Thomas.
So what did I love about “One Too Many”
Well Brett and Grace’s marriage, it was like a warm welcoming hug.
There closeness and acceptance of each other but also that fact that they were flawed normal individuals, Was so refreshing to behold.
There eventual affection and support towards Thomas was also extremely endearing.
I loved that they had the ability to just accept things at face value. But also, the ability to question things when it was actually needed, does that even make sense.
The fact that this book and the story was just so normal, no tricks or gimmicks just folks trying to live there lives the best way they can, I loved that about “One Too Many”.
And OMG can I just say those bedroom antics,

 photo mrgrxM_zpsnrj2kdgj.gif

Fanning myself here big style girls.
Joking aside the bedroom scenes here were amazing and compelling, so well written, It wasn’t just sex you could actually feel the tenderness and sentiment and also the playfulness behind the filth and corruption.
There was also perhaps a deeper message to convey here, a moral one, is it actually worth the risk to destroy something so precious as the love and trust in a union over money.
Could one night actually destroy a lifetime of affection and trust.
finally, I really liked how this jumped from each characters POV.
I felt much closer to all three from getting to play in each of their heads for a short time.
What did I have slight issues with, well it’s actually a short list and these are just my own personal observations.
So here you are,
I wasn’t really a mega fan of the ending.

(view spoiler)

So that’s it from me, this is a fabulously unusual read that you really should give a chance too.
I don’t think you’ll regret it.

Release Date-30/1/18

So this was the main event “War of Hearts” By Julia Sykes and it was delicious.
This starts where “Battle for love” leaves us, With Ashlyn being kidnapped by the enigmatic Marco and removed to Marco’s family’s country estate where Joseph completely unaware is pining for his lost Angel.
The reason for this abduction, Joseph is heartsick and Marco wants his friend back to what he once was pre-Ashlyn.
So delivering Ashlyn seems the ideal solution to this issue.
So While this is set in the mafia world, there is actually scant interaction with the mafia undertone.
It factors only briefly in the background.
“War Of Hearts” main focus is on the dynamic between our three main characters. Ashlyn, Joseph and Marco.
And as I mentioned previously it’s Marco I am drawn to and I couldn’t wait to learn more about this guarded individual.
It quickly becomes apparent that the alpha personality here is Marco and also that The same thing that has drawn Joseph to his innocent angel Ashlyn and quickly turned into an obsession for him is happening again.
This time with Marco and for different reasons.
Also while Marco is drawn to Ashlyn, he also is aware and knows that she is capable of so much more and in fact that Joseph has vastly underestimated her resilience and strength of capacity.
But where Joseph wants to corrupt his angel and dirty her edges.
Binding her in his ropes and playing with her boundaries.
Marco wants to protect his princess, she is his darling precious girl, and he is also the driving force here behind the whole menage dynamic.
The driver if you will.
I was rubbing my hands together in glee when I realised the dynamic here was of Master, daddy and Ashlyn, I love love love this aspect so much.
So there is plenty more going on here to sell this and I was really pleased with where this took me and how this ended.
And I was ultimately right, there is so much more to Marco than what we were originally given and were exposed to in the short prequel to this “Battle for Love”.
“War Of Hearts” gives us some terrific likeable love interests and it doesn’t hurt that this is also hot and sexy as hell.
Quite a read.
So there we have it, folks, this was a good solid read with fantastic well-developed dynamics between its main three characters.
But, If I’m completely honest, Marco is hands down my favourite.
He is also the individual in this that for me really shone to the forefront.
Capturing that limelight.
So give this a go it is definitely one of the better menage romance I have read.

💜Book-Review💜Walking Away💜 by Xavier Neal💜

Release Date-22th January
Genre-Romantic Menage Romance
Kindle Edition-377 Pages

For her sake, I should walk away. I’m not the man she needs.

For his sake, I should walk away. I’m not the one he wants.

For their sake, I should walk away. I’m not the solution. I’m a new problem.

What happens when three people unexpectedly fall in love and one should walk away, but can’t?

Walking AwayWalking Away by Xavier Neal

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

 photo 13504732_zpslgv55qa1.gif

WOW WOW WOW!! Where has this author been all my life bloody amazing This was such a captivating read and “Walking Away” By Xavier Neal literally snuck up on me in stealth mode, blowing me away with its utter sheer magnetism.
I have never read anything quite like this story, and I feel like I’m doing this a disservice by labelling “Walking Away” a menage romance.
This is so much more, It’s a beautiful love story that just takes you by the throat and won’t let go.
This is by the far the best M/M/F romance I have ever read and I’ve read a few over the years.
So “Walking Away,” tells the tale of Jason and Gwen or Blondie and Gwenny as Hudson has affectionally nicknamed them.
After answering an online advert, Hudson finds himself in the strangest of situations dating a married couple.

.Seriously? Am I actually considering being the third wheel to their marriage? I mean, easy escape when I’m ready to bail, but banging a married chick and dating a….dude? Am I really gonna give this shit a try?

Gwen and Jason are having issues in there once idyllic marriage.
An accident has left Gwen’s husband Jason in a wheelchair, unable to perform his husbandly duties.
And then there’s Jason, needing a companion as he is stuck indoors while his wife works.
Brain stagnating from all the toxic daytime television, isolated from the world around him and taking his frustrations out on a wrecked Gwen.
Totally managing to alienate his wife and not even caring because of what he perceives as his now manly limitations.
The pair themselves have not been intimate in over a year and their union is now approaching breaking point.
So Hudson agrees to date them both and after setting up some initial ground rules the trio are ready to start there very unique arrangement.
What was so unusual about this was that Jason and Hudson are both manly males and have no experience or desire normally for the same sex.
But as well as being blown away by Gwenny’s curves and sheer sexiness.
Hudson finds himself actually intrigued and for the first time in his life interested in a male.
Which also seems to be projected back at him by Jason.
So first things first I adored Hudson, I loved his straight-talking take no prisoners attitude.

.“Let me make something fucking clear for you, Blondie. Gwenny asks you to do shit. I’m telling you. Gwenny is your hot as fuck wife, and I’m the asshole whose cock you’ll be sucking between highlight reels on ESPN. She treats your ass with kid gloves because she cares about your feelings, and I’m the one here to tell you to man the fuck up.”   The glare deepens yet he doesn’t say a word.   “Now, you can make this easy for me and tell me where the keys to the van are and your shoes, or you can make this fucking difficult and be a bigger fucking pain in the ass. But let me remind you, one more time, I am not Gwenny. I’ve got the strength to force your ass wherever it is I feel like taking you, so if you wanna fucking box this shit out, just know I’m not holding back a damn thing.”

And this is exactly what Jason needs as its a refreshing change to Gwen’s softly softly approach, which isn’t really working and is only leaving Jason and Gwen more frustrated in their marriage.
So this was all sorts of unusual and it shouldn’t have worked but it just did.
I adored watching this trio fall in love and Jason becoming more accepting of his condition and disability thanks to Hudsons insights and friendship.
What was once two lovers, gradually evolves into a close trio.
The overall dynamic of Jason and Gwen’s relationship changing for the better with the added addition of Hudson.

“You have a problem with me, with what happens between us, you fucking talk to me, Gwendolyn.” I watch her chest rise and fall a little faster. “You treat me like I’m your husband and not just the asshole in the wheelchair you tolerate.”   She takes a couple steps closer and leans her face down to mine. “Then you treat me like I’m your wife and not just the doormat who was doing everything she could to make all of this easier for you.”   My lips drift towards hers. “I don’t want easier, baby. I want what we had.”   Just above a whisper she proclaims, “What we had is gone. But what we’re building…” Gwen’s fingertip trails along my jaw, “will be so much better.”

I try to smile at the genuine concern he’s displaying. “I’d kill to make love to my wife but-”   “Ah-Ah.” He holds a finger to hush me. “We can make that happen.”   “Did you lose the memo about my dick not being available to serve for duty?”   Hudson cocks a smirk. “I got you a new dick.”   “What?!” Gwen and I squawk together.   After a small chortle, he explains, “On my way over this morning, I made a pit-stop. I swung by a sex shop and got you a strap on.”

So walking away was funny, oh was it amusing, usually due to Hudsons sheer outrageousness.
He was an absolute card and I have to say he was hands down my favourite character in this book.
He just brightened everyone’s day with his constant monologue and no filter on his mouth.
An example of this.

“Why do we have to learn to cook?” Hudson whines as the three of us wander around the fresh produce selection of the grocery store.  “We have you.”   “I’m sorry, do I look like your mother?”   He instantly frowns. “Thank fuck no. I’m not into that whole fucking chicks who look like my mom thing. It’s fucking weird. And disgusting.”   Jason doesn’t bother hiding his laughter.

See, quite the naughty schoolboy vibe here.
So I love where this took us and I found the deeper exploration of this relationship and its many variables so endearing.
This wasn’t just smut or for titillation.
And although the scenes were hot and heavy you could also feel the love and emotion as well.
and everything was also enveloped in a warm shade of humour.
You just could not help falling for these three lovers.
I find in most menage stories the emphasis is usually on the female and the males sharing her.
Here this wasn’t just the case all our threesome Gwen, Jason and Hudson fell deeply in love and lust and the author has portrayed this beautifully.
Managing to convey the sentiments behind the actions in an almost normal everyday way.
Showing The camaraderie and old boys club antics between Jason and Hudson as well as also conveying the love between all three so splendidly.
And while Gwen definitely gets her share of the attention there is definitely a Bromance in the making between Jason and Hudson.
It was absolutely poetic to observe.

They are an adorably obnoxious pair. Somedays I swear there’s a Super Bowl party in my living room with the spread of beer, pizza, and sports blaring, not to mention the belching and farting. Other days…well they’re overwhelmingly thoughtful like when Jason will rub my feet while Hudson gently strokes my head. It’s been such a long time since I’ve had to balance the desire to pop the person I love upside the head for being too childish and drop to my knees to praise them for being so sweet. What makes it more complicated now is that there are two of them and they find humor in tag teaming in regards to who deserves kisses and who deserves kicks.

Gwenny peels her body out of my grip and busies herself with cooking. Once I’m out of the way of the both of them, I take a moment to adore how easy everything flows when we’re together. From the beginning it’s always felt like I just stepped into shoes waiting for me. Like he’s my best friend and she’s our girl. Like the connection we have is older than time itself.

This then has then been topped off with the added cherry of Gwen and the room in her big heart for both men who she is now so invested and in love with.
I will leave you here with this final sentiment that “walking away” managed to convey to me with its beautiful emotions conveyed on every page of this book.
Here the message is clear really, love is just love, whatever the gender its the person inside that is the ultimate attraction.

Despite the fact I may never learn to walk again, I’ve learned to love again, and I think that makes me the luckiest bastard on the planet. Yeah, maybe it’s been two years since I could make love to my wife without assistance or drive or have a real job, but I’m still alive. I’m still capable of much more than some. Plus, I have the greatest two people in the entire world to love and support me. Being able to feel my legs or my dick again will always pale in comparison to that.

I’ve never felt anything this powerful. This intense. This…soul shaking. Every time we’re together, everything we do together feels like this is how we belong. Like it should always be this way. However, I can’t stop myself from wondering, if it feels this extraordinary when we’re together, how excruciating will it feel if we’re ever torn apart?

So There you have it, folks, sorry for all the quotes, I could have posted loads more.
There was just so much good material here to work with here.
If I could give this more than five stars I would, it’s just that unique and brilliant.
I can’t wait to check out more of this authors work, if this is an example of her writing, well I’m blown away really blown away.
So I got this free with my KU subscription and boy am I glad I did.
I hope you take a chance on this and give this a go, I really don’t think you will be disappointed.

“Battle for love” is a very short prequel, (and I wouldn’t really even class this as novella length) setting the stage and introducing us to the upcoming characters in “War of Hearts”.
Here we get a brief presentation into the events leading us up to Ashlyn’s abduction by Marco.
Joseph has run from his criminal family and is lying low in this bustling college town.
Working as a bartender he spots Ashlyn and becomes captivated by her beauty and innocence.
After rescuing her from unwanted advances Joseph succumbs to his baser needs and despite trying to stay away he finds himself captivated by Ashlyn.
But past events have a way of catching up and it’s not long before best friend Marco shows up in pursuit of Joseph.
So “Battle for love” Is mainly a taste of the main event and as such my rating reflects this fact.
We don’t really get to learn that much about this upcoming trio but what is apparent is that Joseph is holding back his true nature from his Angel,
Ashlyn is entranced and smitten with Joseph and Marco well he’s the dark horse really and in my opinion the most interesting out of the three.
The dark horse who I would be interested in learning more about.
All three Ashlyn, Joseph and Marco come across as very different but also extremely likeable individuals.
Now confession time, the reason I said I would be interested in learning more about Marco, well I already know as I read this backwards,
Holds head in shame,

I have a habit of doing this, in my defence, I wasn’t aware of Battle For Love’s existence until I’d started its predecessor.
So I skipped back after the main event out of curiosity.
So that’s it “Battle For Love” is what it is, a brief foray into the “War Of Hearts” world
That sets the scene and draws you in splendidly.

Deep Control (Dark Dominance #2) by Annabel Joseph was an absolute delight to read.
Its one of them reads that’s a little bit out of the box in regards to the normal and that’s what floated my boat with this story.
So Deep Control is the second book in this series and although
these books occupy the same world this can totally be read as a stand-alone, I did and had no issues what so ever following along.
I also want to mention how much I’m loving that book cover, such a hot combustible image, adoring it totally.

So this book follows Pilot Devin a Dominant and a bit of a sadist and Ella an astrophysicist with a penchant for pain.
When the two meet, first with a brief encounter at a club and later as Devon is accompanying Ella on a flight to New York as a flight coach due to her severe phobia of flying, sparks do fly and after sharing a traumatic life-affirming experience the two end up hooking up and realise there desires align perfectly.

Deciding this is something they both want to explore Devon asks Ella along to the Gallery. An exclusive club that caters to the extreme, here there are no safe words and a sub needs a sponsor and invitation to play.
Neither wanting a relationship, each for there own reasons, the two embark on a friendship of mutual desire and depravity, but sometimes the best-laid plans can easily go to pot.

So I really enjoyed Deep Control, it was a hot messy read but also had the added bonus of a great storyline, I really liked all the characters if at times I did want to give Ella a big kick up the derriere for her sheer stubbornness in realising what she actually held in her hand and was in danger of losing if she didn’t pull her finger out and smell the coffee.
Devin himself was such a delicious specimen and I just loved how he took such good care of Ella it was very apparent early on how much he cared.
I found this to be such an easy read with some great secondary characters and I raced through this very quickly indeed.
I should also probably mention that there are menage scenes where Devon shares Ella with his friend, this is all completely consensual and the HEA that eventually occurs is only between Devon and Ella but I thought I should this just mention just in case this bothers you at all.
Though I haven’t read anything by this author before I am pleased to say this was a very positive experience and I will definitely be checking out any other books she has out, especially the ones in this series.

So that’s about it, Deep Control gets a big thumbs up from me, check it out you won’t be disappointed.
I was provided with an ARC of Deep Control (Dark Dominance #2) by Annabel Joseph of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Animal (Animal #1) by Marni Mann

Release Date-March 23rd 2017
Genre-Dark Romance
Kindle Editions-306 pages

In this prison, we weren’t just guards. We were animals.

I captured the guilty.
Locked them inside our prison.
Tortured their bodies and abused their minds.
I had murdered hundreds.
Never recognized one.
Until her face.
Until that scream.
I was hired to take her life.
But first, I had to figure out how she ruined mine.

Animal is an extremely dark novel. There are strong sexual themes, drug usage, physical abuse and torture that could trigger and/or cause emotional suffering. You have been warned.

Animal (Animal, #1)Animal by Marni Mann

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

🌟🌟🌟🌟 STARS
So here is “Animal” in all its glory.
Where do I start with this so very different story. well here goes,
Beard is running an illegal prison in Venezuela with his two best friends.
It’s A place where they torture and kill, not just for the money involved, but also for the kicks too.
Beard himself has an obsession with the screams, he loves to listen to the cries of the tortured and the damned, it’s just his thing.
So as you have probably surmised from the above “Animal” is an extremely dark tale and you should probably be aware that the descriptions in this are very graphic and detailed.
So the majority of this tale we get to follow Beard around and experience his very graphic sex life.
I should also mention that there’s a lot of girl on girl action, some menage scenes and also some drug use as well, just in case this bothers you.
The sex itself is also very down and dirty in language as well as detail and while this itself didn’t bother me, the sheer amount of it did.
This is where Animal lost a star for me, I felt there was too much and I just didn’t enjoy some of the encounters here, they felt a trifle off to me.
I actually in hindsight realised why I felt this way, It was quite obvious to me once I’d made the connection.
Surprisingly the prison itself didn’t affect me that much, not because I don’t have a heart and lack the ability to empathise, Just more because I tried to not visualise what was occurring there, I buried my head in the sand, so to speak, out of sight, out of mind and all that jetsam.
You Know, LA LA LA LA LA Fingers in ears that kind of stuff.
I am actually pretty much unshockable anyway as it takes a lot to disturb me and mess with my head. Probably the side effect of reading so much depravity.
So moving on , the other person’s head we get to play inside is a young college girl by the name of Tyler.
Ignored and taken for granted by her family, makes Tyler extremely vulnerable in her need for acceptance and love.
she is Easily Recruited by the Achurdy and her choices in life lead her down a dark path with only one end seemingly in her sights.
we are given a little taster of Tyler’s utter despair in life and also in her death.
A snapshot into her head if you will.
So, What did I just read? And How darn Clever Was this folks? A Slow Stunned Clap from me, I’m so very impressed Marni, you rock girl.
Animal by Marni Mann was a complete an utter twisted-mind F@ck.
I know I had a slightly bemused expression on my face throughout.
And I was also, in a state of utter confusion for the majority of this story.
and Just when I thought I was getting somewhere, It was like BAM!!! here’s another curve-ball for you, we don’t want you getting too complacent girl.
With the final curtain closing on what was a massive Reveal, my first thought after the initial shock was, Ah, I get it now, everything kinda makes sense in a weird sort of freaky arse way.
Marni Mann after keeping me in a state of compete and utter perplexity throughout all of “Animal” has somehow managed to wrap this all up so prettily
Gathering together all the stray threads of this story and weaving them into a sort of gruesome testimony.
At least that’s what I thought until Animal threw another DUH!!! moment at me, (I’m rolling my eyes here people.)
I knew it was to good to be true,
Back to trying to find my way out of the dark, sigh.
Animal is like being lost in a maze with no exit anywhere at all.
So where were we, 0h yes, I guess this story hasn’t quite finished unfolding yet. I for one can’t wait till act two commences.

So just a footnote,
I originally after finishing “Animal” rated this a three and a half.
I decided to sleep on it before I put pen to paper
As I could not get this out of my head, and for that reason alone I’ve upped this to a four, as this is not a read I will forget in a hurry and it doesn’t really matter if that’s for the right or the wrong reasons it’s stuck in my head now so it’ a definite score.
