Aiden is potently male, predatory (in a sexy way), and absolutely infuriating. You’re going to f*cking love him.

#badboy #alpha #office-romance #roommates #enemies-to-lovers

I’m Carly.

A nice girl. A nice girl who has recently figured out that nice girls get the shaft. So, I’ve decided that Carly 2.0 needs to be me. Buh-bye Carly 1.0, the doormat.

There’s a problem, though. An alphahole is my new roommate and my boss’s son. And the alphahole is gunning to ruin me.

Alphahole: a grade-A alpha male asshole.

The epitome? Aiden Carmichael.

Aiden wants to give me the shaft. In multiple ways, if you get my drift.

Good thing the new me has decided to fight dirty.

I’m Aiden. Alphahole.

Or so the chick my father put in my corporate apartment and my department at the office calls me. Whatever. She’s got spunk. And a great rack. She tries to come off as a badass, but I see right through the act. If she’s gonna tangle with me, she’ll be the one to get tied up in knots. It won’t be me.

A bad boy, enemies-to-lovers, roommate & office romance.

OMG, this book I bloody loved it like so much.

tumblr_mtr48z7vjA1qhhgs9o2_500

Its one of those stories that instantly reaches in a grab you by the throat and you’re unable to shake free until that final curtain.
This was such addictive reading; a slow-burn, room-mates and enemy to lovers rollercoaster that took me through such a kaleidoscope of deep emotions; which I felt from the top of my head down to the very tip of my toes.
I ran the gauntlet from start to finish; leaving the party with a massive book hangover and still wanting more from these fascinating new characters that have sprung forth from this author’s vast imagination and Alphahole does a fantastic job leaving the stage splendidly set-up for further future developments.
As an added incentive I am already emotionally attached to a great deal of the individuals portrayed between these pages and will definitely no question be reading anything else set in this particular world; I mean how could I not.
Embarking aboard the aphahole train is an experience in a league all of its own; one you will most certainly enjoy.
It’s full of unexpected humour, plenty of action and is also super smoking to boot.
Aiden himself, our resident Alpahole/Hot sauce is such a character.
Even when he is at his worst you can’t help but be drawn to his cheeky-boy arrogant persona.
He’s one unapologetic Alphahole and a loved watching his metamorphosis from arrogant douche to; well a bit less of a douche as he slowly drinks the cool-aid that is Carly.

images.jpg

I loved that even though Aiden does grow as an individual throughout this story he still manages to stay true to his inborn nature just a much more likeable version of himself that was there all along but was just buried deep; like really needs a shovel deep.
Carly/Peaches, I really adored the girl with her ingenious set of new rules for the new an improved Carly 2.0 she had me from the first page.
Who hasn’t been screwed over and taken the mick out of; Carly was being proactive and taking control; this girl was so my hero especially when she stood up to Aiden’s complete bullcrap, calling him out and refusing to be his whipping boy.

7934978

This also had a fantastic supporting cast that I really want to learn more about especially Carly’s new friend Ally whos vibe I was really digging.
In fact, the whole story here was jam-packed with something for everyone.
Not one for slow burns; well I would make an exception here the best bit for me about Alphahole was how the tension was expertly ratcheted up notch by delicious notch; it really was one of the best slow-burn romances I have read and when we eventually arrived at the expected destination well boy it was so worth the anticipated wait.
So Alphahole gets a massive thumbs up from myself, this one turned out to be a real winner that I totally recommend 100%.

erica

Give it a go I really don’t think you will be disappointed.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of “Alphahole” of which I have reviewed voluntary.

Lachlan’s Protégé by V.F. Mason
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

thumbnail_LACHLAN_Teaser6
I was really looking forward to “Lachlan’s Protégé”; it had one of those blurbs that was just oh so intriguing and it certainly didn’t disappoint capturing and retaining my interest ever so easily.
I didn’t like this quite as much as “Psychopath’s Prey” but have to say it was a very close second indeed.
I adored the way this story was told with present time and flashbacks and it certainly managed to keep me on my toes as I was never quite sure of Lachlan’s hidden agenda and what his ultimate
end-game was.
This author is an expert in misdirection and as usual, managed to weave a dark entangled web that I really enjoyed trying to decipher.
I did prefer Lachlan in all his unapologetic depravity than Valencia with all her fresh wholesomeness but that’s mainly because I am more drawn to the dark in all its shades of grey.
I really do love me a story that takes a walk on the dark side, managing to keep me off balance with its potential.
I really did inhale everything about this deeply decadent story and the only reason I removed half a star here was that I didn’t always feel the connection between Lachlan and Valencia as deeply as I could have.
I feel that this may have been due to how much back-story we are given here.
No matter I still really enjoyed this.
My only other criticism here was the ending I would have prefered maybe a bit more interaction between our Main two characters; I felt that I didn’t quite get given the closure I needed with these two.
Saying that the finale was also pure genius didn’t see that one on the horizon.
All in all, this was a fab read That I really enjoyed and I am happy to recommend.
On a final note just wanted to add that there are some triggers here that may bother some readers; this is at its heart a dark read so don’t expect some sweet vanilla story as this is definitely not what you’re going to receive here.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of “Lachlan’s Protégé ” of which I have reviewed voluntary.

Title: The Vow

Author: Natalie Wrye

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date: September 10, 2018

Synopsis

Seven years ago, I gave my vow to a man.

Except it wasn’t a wedding…

Because Brett Jackson was the epitome of anti-marriage–a dirty-talking tattoo artist with a penchant for booze, bimbos and blue-eyed women.

I was none of those.

Guess that’s why he walks into my new apartment with my not-so-nice roommate on his arm…as her new boyfriend.

But this is not seven years ago. I’m over him; I really am.
So why does it bother me so much when he catches me naked in my new place?

Why does his searing stare at my body stay with me?

Why am I wishing for a repeat and wanting to break the most important vow I’ve ever made?

A vow that will break both me and Brett…and turn the Manhattan life I’ve built for myself upside down.

Excerpt

Breathless, my body shaking, I pull back just as our kiss begins to deepen, my lips tender to the touch as I lick them. I look up at the brown-haired Adonis holding me close, inhaling as deep as I can. I let go of a shaky breath.

“What are you doing?”

Brett blinks. “What you won’t. What I shouldn’t.” He kisses me chastely, pulling back. “What we need.” He grins. “I couldn’t hold back any longer.”

“You make us sound like dogs on a leash.”

He snorts on a soft laugh, his stare scanning over my lips. “If anyone’s a dog here, it’s me. But I can’t deny you, Elsie.” He gaze goes back up to mine. “I can’t deny this. I know we made a promise. To never cross this line again. But there’s a reason we’re both here in New York. There’s a reason for right now. To be honest… I don’t know what the hell it really is.” His aqua eyes glow. “But I know I want to explore it.” His voice lowers. “Explore you… If you let me, Elsie. All of this—everything—is up to you.”

But I can’t think, let alone move or talk while our bodies are so close. He smells like the rain. Clean and crisp. A fresh, lightly smoky scent, the skin that is pressed against me as is almost as intoxicating as the stare—the one that intensely searches mine, excavating answers, digging deep enough to find only fucking desire, I’m sure. I’m so turned on I can’t speak. My voice is little more than a sigh. I bite my bottom lip, trying to control my tongue.

I fail.

“We can’t throw caution to the wind, Brett. We have Kayla to think about. And even if we didn’t, we have history, too much past. We’ve practically watched each other grow up. Stayed in the same houses.” I scoff out loud, a blush hitting my cheeks that I can feel burn. “For God’s sake, you’ve seen everything. You’ve seen me at my worst.”

He chuckles a seductive low sound. “My sexy sweet Elsie. You don’t get it, do you? In my eyes… you have no worst.”

Well Well Well, this one was quite the little gem; so wasn’t expecting to like this as much as I did.
I don’t actually read much romantic suspense as it’s not my favourite genre but so glad I gave “Escape With Me” a chance.
So this was my first book by this particular author but it certainly won’t be my last.
Told in dual POV with a from the get-go interesting premise this managed to hook my attention instantly.
Such an easy fast paced suspensful read; which was a hot as it was tense.
“Escape With Me” managed to portray just the right amount of balance between plotline and romance.
The story centres around Jody and Jason.
Jody is in the city to investigate her sister’s disappearance from the exclusive escort club “Escape”.
obtaining a job in the office under false pretences mainly so she can dig deeper into the mystery at hand; it’s not long before she realises she’s in a lot deeper than she can safely handle.
Jason is a pro football player and when he mistakes Jody for his booked Escort Vixen sparks do ignite.
But with a barrel of baggage left behind by his greedy Ex, the road to true love with these two was never going to be easy.
With dodgy happenings about and things heating up on the streets as well as between the sheets, Jason pairs up with Jody to assist her in her search and also help keep her safe; while still trying to protect his own heart in the process.
So this was a great read that was action packed throughout; the characters involved here were both likeable and believable.
The side-cast was also fantastic adding an extra layer to the proceedings and just when I thought I had all the answers I quickly realised that was not actually the case at all.
Some stuff I did guess but other bits completely shocked my socks off.
This was by no means predictable and definitely kept me guessing.
this would have been a full house from me but unfortunately, I disliked the ending; I thought Jason got off much too lightly and Jody should really have made the lad squirm.
I also didn’t like how he didn’t come to Jody’s defence against his manager, that well annoyed me.
And finally how much importance he gave to his crappy biotch of an Ex letting her actions impact his life with a girl who had never been anything but lovely to him.
That peed me off the most if I’m being honest here.
But despite the above, the rest of this was grand for me and a fantastic read.
This is such a fabulous addition to its genre that I’m happy to give a thumbs up to.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of “Escape With Me” of which I have reviewed voluntary.

OMG this book was bloody hilarious; I laughed till I had to cross my legs and run to the loo (you’ll get this if you have kids like me)
My other half thought I was losing the plot and kept giving me concerned glances with the strange noises that were coming from my corner of the lounge.
I can honestly say it’s been a while since ive found a story so bloody funny.
“That Guy” should seriously come with a disclaimer; beware danger of serious injury through laughter.
Ive previously read this author’s “Game Of Life Series” which I adored by the way.
This was so different and definitely shows this author’s complete diversity as she switched genres so seamlessly and I enjoyed this just as much as past reads despite them being so different.
This is the story of Melinda and Arlie and the trials and tribulations they traversed on their journey to coupledom; It wasn’t smooth or completely rock free but it was certainly honest and unique.
I also want to put out there how much I adored Mindy’s bestie, Chris.
In my opinion, everyone needs a Chris and for me, he really stole the show; he was the man.
This was a fabulously funny romp that I generally appreciated; loved it so much.

I really enjoyed this like so much from the second I picked this up I was invested and enthralled.
“Bewitching Sloth” is a fantastic start to an imaginative new paranormal series that focus on the seven sins.
These sins have been bestowed on the children of the Grim Reaper.
Seven siblings each carrying an individual stain gifted by the devil himself.
This first instalment we join Isabella Wen; a powerful witch who just happens to be on the run from an evil entity and Sebastian Reaper oldest son and keeper of Sloth.
From the onset here we are flung right into the action, in fact, this was manic form the first page.
With incredible one-liners, fantastic world building and incredible humour, this book delivers on all fronts.
Overall this was such an easy read with extremely likeable characters and as an added bonus the side cast was also exceptionally intriguing also; I can honestly say Im looking forward to each and every story that was hinted at here.
“Bewitching Sloth” set the stage here so nicely for the unfolding drama and I am already its avid audience.
I really can’t wait to see what this series is going to bring to the table.
This one’s a no-brainer for me; Read it, you definitely won’t be disappointed; I guarantee you this.
Five very well deserved Stars.

Excerpt

He comes for me then, dark and dangerous and utterly mesmeric. “Take it off.”

I stare at him in shock.

“Take off that dress, Eve, or so help me god I’ll rip it from your body.”

His words are like liquid fire to my core. I stagger away from him so he can’t see my naked lust, so he can’t exploit and revel in what he does to me. “Apologize first,” I gasp, trying to compose myself. Sordid images keep invading my mind. I want every single, glorious inch of him on me and in me.

He’s barely two meters away and closing in fast. “I never apologize to anyone, my angel, you know that.”

“You did in Africa. Do it again now or I’m walking right out of this mansion and I’m not coming back.”

He grinds to a halt and stares at me as if he can’t quite believe I’ve got the balls to speak to him like this. “Don’t make your punishment any worse than it already is, Eve,” he growls.

Other women would be terrified by a threat like this from Dante Santiago but I’m not like other women. “Oh I’m counting on it,” I whisper, watching with dark delight as his gaze drops to devour me whole. My defiance does things to this man that no one else can.

“Ok then, I apologize,” he says softly, taking another step towards me, his eyes blazing into mine. “I apologize for demeaning you. I apologize for leaving you for six weeks without satisfying you. I apologize for leaving your soft skin so bereft of my touch.” He prowls to a stop right in front of me and runs a leisurely finger down the length of my arm as I try not to flinch away. “But most of all, my angel, I apologize for the way I’m going to bend you over this couch and fuck you until you scream.”

Who knew reading sexy alien abduction stories could get a girl into trouble? Or that an e-reader could also be the gateway to another galaxy? I definitely didn’t… but here I am anyway, mated to the Tsenturion High Commander just like the unwilling human heroines in my favorite sci-fi romances.

The Commander demands obedience. He intends to claim me, train me, and turn me into his perfect little pleasure trophy. He doesn’t believe in love. I don’t believe in giving in without a fight. There’s no amount of discipline or ecstasy that could break me to his will… I hope.

Alien Captive is a hot alien abduction romance, starring one feisty human and the Tsenturion Warrior strong enough to potentially master her.

THE LITERARY DEBUT OF THE SUMMER 2018

‘An extraordinary debut novel. Otherworldly, luminous, precise… She is writing the way that Sofia Coppola would shoot the end of the world’ Guardian

‘Bold, inventive, haunting… With shades of Margaret Atwood and Eimear McBride, you’ll be bowled over by it’ Stylist

‘Visceral, hypnotic… with one of my favourite endings I’ve read in a long while’ The Pool

Imagine a world very close to our own: where women are not safe in their bodies, where desperate measures are required to raise a daughter. This is the story of Grace, Lia and Sky, kept apart from the world for their own good and taught the terrible things that every woman must learn about love. And it is the story of the men who come to find them – three strangers washed up by the sea, their gazes hungry and insistent, trailing desire and destruction in their wake.

The Water Cure is a fever dream, a blazing vision of suffering, sisterhood and transformation.

‘Immensely assured, calmly devastating’ Katherine Angel, author of Unmastered

‘A work of cool, claustrophobic beauty’ Eli Goldstone, author of Strange Heart Beating

‘Eerily beautiful, strange [and] unsettling’ Paula Hawkins, author of The Girl on the Train

Arc Book Review
Release Date-24/5/18

This one really wasn’t for me at all and originally I did stop at 39% and it was going to be a DNF.
But I decided to persevere and forced myself to finish. Hoping it would get better.
I’m sorry to say for me it didn’t.
So although on paper this seemed a good fit for me in actuality it just wasn’t.
I have seen reviews on “The Wate Cure” praising the brilliance of the prose and yes while I do agree the language used here had an almost fluid brilliance to it it still for me fell flat in capturing and then retaining my complete attention.
I don’t mind admitting I felt a little lost in my overall comprehension here and while scratching my head still in confusion at a third in I decided enough was enough.
That was when I decided to down tools before later reconsidering as I just didn’t want to be beaten by this.
I really didn’t have the foggiest most of the time what the deal was here and if I’m honest I was bored and couldn’t be bothered to stay the course and find out really.
It was my sheer bloody determination that got me through this.
I am if I’m honest slightly disappointed as the blurb for this was ever so intriguing but In my opinion, this was spoiled by attempting to be too highbrow in its execution keeping me in an unnecessary state of confusion that for me rather than making me want to know more just did the complete opposite.
I don’t know what I expected from this but this sure wasn’t it.
Maybe I’m just not clever enough to truly appreciate “The Water Cure”
I read to escape and this was just too much like hard work for me.
I’m sure there are others who will absolutely adore this strange dystopian type drama I’m just really not one of them sorry.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of “The Water Cure” of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
