They say obsessions and insanity go hand-in-hand, but I have another theory. Possession and desire go hand-in-hand because they create such deep insanity a man is willing to eliminate everything and everyone in his way to get to what he wants. I flick my fingers and knock two pawns from the chessboard, ready to strike again. By the time this is done, there will be no one but the queen left standing.
Callum’s Hell by V.F. Mason
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Love this author’s serial killer romances and as usual, this one didn’t disappoint. This one is all about Callum and Giselle and their rocky road to there own personal happy ever after. This is both dark and delightful at the same time and I really did enjoy myself. These books are my guilty pleasure and I always usually read them in one sitting and this one was no exception. Hot and heavy throughout this addictive read certainly delivers on all fronts. Callum’s backstory was absolutely heartbreaking and Giselle’s path was no walk in the park either though she definitely didn’t have it quite as severe as him. Both their interlocking journeys have shaped the individuals they have evolved into. The first half of this we get to explore Giselle and her past and the second part here its Callum’s turn to take the stage. Also really appreciated how past characters made brief appearances here it was great to catch up. This really was an easy read that as usual, I devoured. I recommend this series so highly every book released is my new favourite.

READ CHAPTER ONE
Beauty in the Broken by Charmaine Pauls
My rating: 5 of 5 stars Wow, this really was a fabulous read, one that from the instant I started I just couldn’t put down. Uniquely set in South Africa this one is a standalone story taking place within the powerful world of Diamond mining. At the centre of the storm here we have Damien and Lina. So the latter’s father set Damien up sending him to prison and then stealing his diamond mine. Damien is now a total badass with the criminal connections to match after his stint behind bars, so It’s inevitable that Damien is now out for blood when he is finally released. Emerging from his incarceration a totally changed man there are only a few things now that Damien desires and at the top of his list is his enemies daughter Lina followed by the total annihilation of her dirty dealing father. So this was at its heart a revenge and forced marriage trope. Damien himself I found to be very controlling and though his behaviour at times really bordered on the extreme this was more because of his own internal jealousy rearing its ugly head. The man was really his own worst enemy when it came to dealing with Lina totally escalating situations beyond what is actually normal With his penchant for punishment and pain, this could have gone badly astray luckily Damien’s inner darkness and intensity was slightly tempered by the fact that it was quite apparent from the start that rather than make Lina pay what he really wants is her regard and ultimately her heart. He just has a really crap way of accomplishing his ultimate goal. In this regard a totally obsessive and rigid alpha male So if this is your jam then you’re in luck as this is totally heavy in that direction. Lina herself is extremely damaged and all think her crazy because of her supposed past actions. She also doesn’t do herself any favours either her lack of sharing really doesn’t help her overall situation: though I could hardly blame the poor girl for playing her cards so close to her chest considering her past history, a truth that Damien himself seems overly oblivious to despite the many clues heavily dropped less than subtley in his direction. Despite Damiens extremely dark mood swings and somewhat cavalier attitude I actually didn’t find this one that dark. Maybe because of just how much this showcased to me Damien’s inner turmoil and feelings I could deal. He also was really aware of showing her the respect she has lacked in the past in regards to other people and the public and he doesn’t want her humiliated publicly in any way, I really liked that fact about him that he cared enough to draw himself in slightly. Don’t mistake me he still put Lina in some awful situations behind closed doors which were at times hard to get a handle on his whys. This was also so heartbreakingly tragic in places and my heart hurt at times for poor Lina past treatment especially when the full extent of her past finally became apparent here. This book just has so much going for it and it is one that I recommend highly. well written and with a style that makes for such ease of reading this one was a definite page-turner straight from the start.

Paradise Nights Warner and Tromolin: Indecency Suites Novella #6 by Anabella Roscoff
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is book six in this novella serial and as expected this was another corker of a read. This one features Todd and Tamsin at its centre, she’s a newly single but very rich single mother, ex-stripper and council estate girl: so she certainly knows how to keep it real and he is bored and very restless also considering taking a much-needed break from this high-class world of sex and power. When Tamsin Hires Todd with the sole intention of reclaiming her sexuality through there hot and heavy encounters he himself, at last, finds a female who interests him beyond the purely superficial. He finds in Tasmin a kindred spirit as she herself understands the job and its pressures and limitations. I also adored how real these two were just being themselves with no pretences between them. This was also incredibly humorous which I found so refreshing. This one was another hot read that I enjoyed a lot.

Angel Bonds by Lexi C. Foss
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is book six in the Immortal Curse series and the contrast here between the happiness and despair displayed was just so acute. This swung back and forth like a pendulum and I felt like I was constantly walking a tightrope in regards to my turbulent emotions. We were back with Aya and Isaac again and I really wanted events to play out and them to come out on top so I was holding my breath here in pure anticipation and thankfully this did not disappoint. With so many story arc’s converging I was in seventh heaven and this also had my heart breaking with the raw emotional journey I was on. This really was an emotional one for me and I was again blubbing my eyes out with a passion. We also got treated to some added extras here like Red and Jay’s wedding and a family Christmas which was lovely. All in this was a super read that closed a chapter here in anticipation for a different story direction. All I need now is some closure in regards to a certain couple.

A night of seduction and pleasure in exchange for information…
Caro never should have consented to such a foolish agreement. Now she’s on the run for her life with the very being who put her at risk.
Sethios saw Caro as a challenge to be conquered. Something new to play with, to pass the time. But their mutual arrangement created a consequence neither of them anticipated.
For the seer knows all. She predicts the future. And her newest prophecy changes everything.
How far will Caro and Sethios go to protect their destiny and the fate of their unborn child?
Sometimes love requires the ultimate sacrifice…
Author Note: Blood Bonds is a prequel to the Immortal Curse series. There are significant series related spoilers in this novel, therefore it is listed as book 5. However, it still provides a unique introduction to the world and could technically be read first. It would just provide early answers to some of the burning questions raised in books 1-4.
Blood Bonds by Lexi C. Foss
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Oh my goodness I adored this instalment just so much, I ran such a gauntlet of emotion during this and as I raced towards that finish line I has such a massive lump in my throat. The emotion, love and tragedy here had my fighting back the tears: I lost by the way and as this story drew to a close I was sobbing like a baby. This one is all about Caro and Sethio, Caro a seraphim sent with a message for Osiris is waylaid by Sethio, Osiris’s son. His original plan to have some fun and then send her on her way is obliterated due to a prophecy that sets both there destiny’s on a collision course and with them now sharing a common goal and enemy new alliances are formed and loyalties forged. I was really looking forward to this one just because of all the hints and teasers that we have been exposed to along the way and with this instalment, all the pieces placed on the chessboard start to make so much more sense. I also adored the sexual energy this one produced especially Sethio being somewhat of a sadist. The knife play here I found super sexy indeed. This author is definitely now a strong favourite of mine she just delivers consistently every single time. Another great addition to this enthralling series.

Immortal Curse Series: Books 1-3 by Lexi C. Foss
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is the imaginative paranormal boxset containing books 1-3 in this addictive series. each story features a separate couple at its centre but it does need to be read in order as there is an ongoing story arc flowing throughout. I have written a more in-depth separate review for each one but here I’m just going to give you a general idea of what this series is about. The Immortal Curse series has some of the best world building I’ve encountered. The author manages to immerse you in this world without overwhelming the reader with information quite a feat as this world is not small. Each story has a slightly different flavour to the next, there are no regurgitated storylines here each one is a unique experience. This series centres on two sets of immortals the Ichorians and the Hydraians who though currently at a ceasefire and a tentative declaration of a truce are actually on the brink of war breaking out. There is also a shadow organisation who have made it their mission to bring down rogue immortals and the tensions between the head of this and the Hydraians pull tauter with each book. There is action, intrigue, romance and sexy times, this series really does have it all. This is really just the bare bones of it but it does give you a general idea of what this is all about. I myself am loving this series so far and it is one that I recommend highly.

Twisted Pride by Cora Reilly
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is the story of Remo Falcone Capo of the Camorra and Serafina mafia princess and beloved niece of the Boss of the Outfit, The Camorra’s sworn enemies. Kidnapped on the way to her wedding by Remo and his family what starts out as an ingenious way to bring her family to its knees soon becomes so much more as Remo and Serafina take starring roles in there own bizarre courtship. So I really adored Twisted pride, no one can write mafia romances like This particular author and she has yet to produce one that I haven’t liked. This is one I was so looking forward too just because I loved Remo so much in the previous book. Remo himself is somewhat of a psycho and what I really enjoyed about this was that he didn’t change to fit the mold. He mellowed slightly for one woman but stayed true to form as the scariest man in town to all else. Serafina I liked the journey she undertook from a somewhat blinkered outlook to eyes wide open I really appreciated the way she accepted everything to do with her new life and future. She ultimately made a choice and she owned it in its entirety. It was refreshing to see her accept Remo holey as he was. Also adored where this eventually took us those last few chapters and seeing a softer side of Remo was as unexpected as it was sweet. This one really was a hit for me and I am loving this series just so much.

Being left to lead the fae alongside an annoyingly charming partner really screws with your life.
Skylar Chen just received the promotion of an eternity. After Tristan and Aurora trade their esteemed status for mundane life, it’s now her responsibility to lead the fae.
The catch? She has to work with Nikolai Sterling. With his constant smirks and dangerous good looks, he has a way of getting under Skylar’s skin like no one else. Even still, she’d much rather be getting under him.
Sexual tension aside, they have a bigger issue to deal with. The Experiment, a human organization built on hatred toward the fae, threatens to wipe them from existence. It’s time for Skylar and Nikolai to recruit allies, bring the fae together, and prepare for battle.
Fighting to protect her people is something Skylar can manage. It’s the skeletons in her designer closet that make opening up to Nikolai where she’s suddenly out of her element.
In this finale novella, the beloved side characters from Twisted Fate and Twisted Gift take centre stage to bring down the organization set on destroying them.
Twisted Desire by Jessi Elliott
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars
Twisted Desire is of novella length and features at its centre, Skylar and Nikolai. I did enjoy this but also had some slight issues which I will get into shortly, Sky and her take no prisoners attitude is a breath of fresh air and Nikolai I just absolutely adore anyway with his cheeky charmer personality what’s not to love about him. This follows on from the previous two stories and basically continues the war between the Fae and the experiment. What I really liked about this was that I felt the connection between these two was ever so easy to believe and I really enjoyed how they both connected together. The overall dynamic here was fabulous. We also get to delve deeper into what makes Skylar the Fae she is and when I realised her back story I just got her and the way she behaves around others so much more than I originally did. Basically its a form of self-preservation and shes really good at it. This was also really heartfelt and so emotional in places. So now for my issues, I felt that I jumped into this story midstream and the start of this seemed kind off lopped off. I am aware of there beginnings here but would have liked to experience it as a spectator rather than just having it told to me as second-hand information as part of Triston and Auroras book. I felt that Sky and Nik deserved their time in the spotlight also. It almost felt like a huge chunk of the story was missing. This was also wrapped up much too swiftly in my opinion. I also would have liked to see the Fae acting less humane and tolerant of the ignorant humans. I think that this really needed to be slightly longer with an extended start and finish as the middle here was ever so great. I also would have liked to have been given an epilogue as well. This still has plenty to recommend it and is an interesting and imaginative take on the Fae. There are surprises to be had here: one I wish was explored in more depth. If I had been Nik I would have wanted more answers than I had got I also thought this was a missed opportunity in terms of story development, I am being deliberately vague here to avoid spoiling this you will realise what I am on about when you read it. This does need to be read in order as there’s an ongoing story that continues through all three books. I wanted to read this one because Nikolai is hands down my favourite character out of this entire series. Still, adore him though I would have liked to experience some of this from his POV also. What made this for me was the emotional side of things and this had plenty of that.

You must have read I Dare You first
It was supposed to be a game. I Dare You. We bought her in ’cause I wanted to play with her. Destroy her. But plans change and she got caught in the crossfire. Then I did something far worse. I fell in love with her, but she doesn’t know I still have secrets. Ones that could rip us all apart. We’re sharks. Raised to hunt and kill. We take what we want without asking. We’ve never needed permission before, so I’m not about to start now.
You think you know everything, but we’re about to do what we do best and prove you wrong- I Promise You!
I Promise You by Shantel Tessier
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
So I enjoyed this, was it perfect? No did I enjoy it as much as “I dare you”? well no but this still had lots here to recommend reading it. I suppose this is more like a companion read to the main event, one that manages to fill in most of the blanks that were left slightly open-ended previously. I say most as there are still some unanswered conundrums that I really want answers to the main one being who is Bennet hooking up with? I do have some ideas but will be keeping that to myself for the moment. What I liked about this the most was that we got to see a more humanised version of Cole as here he finally pays his penance and definitely eats some humble pie in regards to his previous treatment of Austin. It was lovely to see Austin finally getting treated with the respect she deserved all along. There were also plot twists here that surprised me and I also liked the conclusion in regards to Cole and Austin. what I was less fond of here was the usual double standard where the boys were allowed to sow their oats without blame and the girls were vilified for exactly the same behaviour. I really liked Becky and Deke’s dynamic before and this just soured things for me slightly in regards to them. So that’s it really, not sure if I will be going ahead with Deke’s story yet as I haven’t quite decided. Mainly because I am just a bit downhearted with the destroyed dynamic here. Just a heads up this is not a standalone, you do need to read book one first.

Lennon Carter first saw my face with his hand around my throat.
Shock widened his eyes, starbursts of anger for what I’d done. That moment should have been the last of us; our beginning and end.
Fate, it seems, had other plans.
A dedicated musician, Lennon would become my mentor, my shadow, my protector and nightmare. We were two discordant notes that somehow blended with perfect harmony.
Challenged to become a pianist as talented as him, I became Lennon’s SIN, while he became my DISCIPLINE.
(A Taboo Student/Teacher Romance)
Sin & Discipline by Lily White
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Lily White is a completely new author for me and got to say I am seriously impressed folks. She seriously smashed it out the park with “Sin & Discipline and I absolutely adored this Taboo Teacher/student romance, like tongue hanging out panting and all that Jazz. This book just worked for me on every single level and I devoured every page avidly. But first, though let me address the Taboo aspect of this story just in case this is a cause of concern for you. So this is not in any way icky, the Taboo relationship here between teacher and student is not in any way a high school one. Amelia is an adult (18) and Lennon (28) is a famous successful musician who for the summer is acting as a mentor in his hometown to a bunch of talented musicians and whittling them down to one along with another teacher to compete for a coveted scholarship at a prestigious music school. So yeh both consenting adults and all that. So the heat here was seriously turned up sizzling in fact. Loved the overall dynamic portrayed here so much it just pulled at my heartstrings and felt very believable and authentic. That balance with Lennon and Amelia was very much one of dominance and submission but not really in a bdsm sense more in a sense of control and deep need, there was no calling anyone sir or scenes it’s just Lennon and Amelia and there own unique connection. This control is basically Lennon’s Jam but he also wants Amelia to retain her fire, sass and attitude to life. The intense connection between Amelia and Lennon jumped off the page, the ebb and flow of the bond these two musical individuals had made there shared encounters so majestically lyrical.
The things this yummy man can do with a pair of suspenders and a piano, Oh be still my beating heart!!
