Title: Quit Your Pitchin’ Series: There’s No Crying in Baseball Release Date: July 20, 2018
Cover Model: Chase Ketron
Photographer: FuriousFotog What’s wrong with my butt? She means those words to be directed toward the woman beside her, not him. But he can’t stop himself from answering. Not when her ass is the most magnificent thing he’s seen in his life. Apparently, answering her with ‘not a damn thing’ wasn’t what she was expecting. She likely wasn’t expecting the baseball she took to the face at his next at bat, either. All it takes is one ill-fated foul ball, and George Hoffman, Lumberjacks center fielder, falls head over heels in love with Wrigley Field—and yes, that is her real name. From that point forward, George and Wrigley fall into a fast whirlwind love that ends with them eloping to Vegas. And he has his potty mouth, titty bar owning, pain in the ass grandmother to thank for it. Not that he’s complaining or anything. Who wouldn’t want to be married to a woman that made his heart race like he was in the final game of The only problem is trying to convince her of that.

This was the second book by this particular author I have read and out of the two this one I enjoyed slightly less. Saying that this was still a good read that was easy to follow and though slightly annoying at times with all the turmoil still kept my attention. This is a sports romance typically Baseball; being from the UK I don’t really know a whole lot about this sport so I did actually find that quite interesting. So this story features George Hoffman, the Lumberjacks centre fielder and Wrigley Field; what a name ay. And the Events that transpire after he manages to knock her out with a ball to the head, Ouch! What follows is the most amazing and at times ridiculous antics that these to face overcoming hurdles that stand in the way of there own personal road to a HEA and all that jazz. So I knew as soon as these two started to succumb to there emotions it was all going to go to pot. With how instantly life fast forwarded on them it was a foregone conclusion really. The road to that coveted couple-dom is always going to be rocky when it starts out so easy. Just didn’t realise exactly quite how angsty things were going to get through; these two were seriously like a runaway train with no obvious destination. Humour, Misunderstanding, heartache and crappy family combined this was like some modern day carry on film. I actually really liked the style of narrating here but was a bit less stoked about the huge time jumps; to me, they felt a trifle out of whack and disjointed at times. Making me almost lose my place in the order of events to come. I felt like we almost sacrificed the getting to know you stage where we build up a picture and understanding of the couple itself for unnecessary angst and drama. I would have been so much happier with a simpler tale with more emphasis on the earlier emotions rather than the dramatic theatrics. “Quit My Pitchin” played out in a very rom-com style and at times was extremely entertaining to spectate. I did like both Wrigley and George and was, of course, rooting for them both all the way. Told in dual POV this was at its heart an enjoyable experience. Happy to recommend this one especially if you like a more relaxed style of narration. Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of “Quit Your Pitchin’ (There’s No Crying in Baseball, #2)” of which I have reviewed voluntary.

This was my first book by this particular author and I really did enjoy myself here. Rich in a sense of history as well as the added bonus of paranormal and romance this has something to satisfy all tastes. I myself adored the rich tapestry of history we are exposed to as “Condemned” plays out drawing me into its rich atmospheric ambience so easily. Set in the field of archaeology this cleverly combines the old and the new making for such a fascinating tale. I wasn’t aware upon starting this that it was part of a series; no worries this can easily be read as a standalone; I had no issues whatsoever doing so. I did find this quite slow growing initially with a lot of time going into building the momentum so when Dominic and Belinda eventually do meet it did seem slightly instalove. This was one of the slight issues that pulled Condemned down a tad for me. I’m not overly fond of the Wham Bam! I love you vibe and prefer myself much more of a slow build when it comes to the feelings department. I also thought Belinda got over the whole Oh No; he’s a bloodsucking vampire fact far too easily, I mean come on he’s a freaken bloodsucker; you’d think she would be a tad warier than she actually was. Once she got over the initial OMG shock she hardly gave it a second thought. despite some slight issues I still enjoyed this very much. It has so much going for it in terms of plot and both main characters were extremely likeable individuals. The history here for me was a major selling point, and this delivered in spades on that front. I also never saw that ending coming either, completely snuck up and blindsided me. In conclusion, this was such an enjoyable read filled with Vampires, witchery, history and archaeology delivering a menagerie of flavours. And despite having a vampire for the Hero I did not find this dark in the least. A feel-good paranormal romance that certainly delivers on the romance front. Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of “Condemned (Cursed by Blood Saga Book 7)” of which I have reviewed voluntary.

About Marianne Morea

Who am I? Well, that’s a good question. When most people think of romance suspense authors, the image of Kathleen Turner as Joan Wilder in ‘Romancing the Stone’ usually comes to mind. A lonely woman sitting in a bathrobe and fuzzy slippers, conjuring lovers and adventure in her imagination. In other words, one step away from being the neighborhood cat lady.

If that description made you cringe, then you know how we writer’s feel. Thankfully, for most of us that image is far from accurate.

I have been married for 23 years, have three beautiful kids, two dogs and a cat. I am a 2nd degree black belt in traditional Japanese karate and as I’ve said, I love to travel and my romantic and spontaneous husband shares that passion with me, so my stories get plenty of inspiration!

In the meantime I am also a founding member and previous President of The Paranormal Romance Guild, a not-for-profit organization for readers and authors of the genre. Of course, I’m still writing and when I’m not ‘bichok’ (butt in a chair hands on keyboard), I’m off with my hubby and our kids to exciting destinations.

Cat lady? I don’t think so.

The Only creature who has ever been able to bring the devil to his knees, my beautiful deadly Queen

This was such a delicious concluding instalment to a series that had previously captured my attention so completely with it’s ingenious and fresh perspective on that old tug of war between good and evil and everything that lies in the grey of the in-between. And after where we previously left off with this I was practically salivating to jump headlong back into the action alongside Mavi, Lucifer and all the rest of the gang. Having no idea how this was going to continue after that massive cliffhanger of a finale in book one I was ever so curious to see how “The Devil’s Plaything” was going to recover from the burnt ashes it had collapsed into previously. This is one book ive been wanting to hurry up and hit my kindle like so much and I have to tell you it was so worth the wait folks. So after a quick re-read of its predecessor, I was raring to go and almost instantly catapulted into a world of confusion where nothing is as it seems and the king of manipulations and lies that is Lucifer seems up to his old tricks; scheming and playing his cards totally to his own advantage. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt really I did, but it was just so hard when time after time he seemed to be playing a game that only he was aware of all the rules. No regard for Mavi or seemingly anyone else, stomping on her obvious affections without a care. And the more this progressed the deeper the hole he seemed to did himself into with Mavi I really didn’t see how he was going to explain his way out of this one. And while Lucifer spun his manipulations around the whole saga the contrast in his portrayed intent and actual attention to Mavi was just so confusing, I didn’t know what to think as he was Constantly blowing hot and cold throughout. And talking of heat the sexual antics between these two were seriously smokin in nature with a raw unapologetic carnality that I bloody adored. In fact, there was just so much here that I was loving as this was just such a fantastic engaging read. I think one of my favourite aspect of this series was the unrepentant nature of its characters. I adore it when we are given an unashamed anti-hero that stays totally true to there inner nature. A monster that is still kinda a monster to everyone but the one they adore and that’s what we are treated to here; Lucifer is who he is and makes no excuses for his inert essence. And Mavi herself is more than a match for him her ultimate wickedness complimenting Lucifers corrupt core just so cruelly and with such great finesse. So this is set primarily in Hell away from Ceasefire which I actually prefered. We also get to experience Lucifer this time in his true form which was also a mega plus for me. There are definitely some surprises here that leapt out of left field and totally knocked my socks off. And there were times occasions that I really hated Lucifer with a bloody passion and wanted to knock him the hell out. This is one of those reads that once started can’t be put down so great is its pull.

I was transfixed to the bitter end.

They call him a monster. Weaver of lies. The great deceiver. Yet the devil has wept for me. Fought For me. Taken me in his dark Embrace

I cant recommend this book series enough my only criticism here is it had to end. So looking forward to experiencing much more of this fantastic world and seeing what else this talented author has planned for us next. I was provided with an ARC of “The Devil’s Plaything (Ceasefire #2)” By the author of which I have reviewed voluntary.

All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

His name slips from my lips with so much longing it resonates from the depths of my soul. Love is the ultimate loss of control. I’ve lost all rhyme and reason since he entered my life. I know what I want now.

Him. It’s always been him.

It doesn’t matter who he is.

I can’t ignore my need for him. Bad habits die hard. I’m relapsing, drunk on forgiving love. I’m done denying how I feel.

He twists my affections into something sick and perverted, but I still refuse to walk away from his sweet poison, which will no doubt kill me again in the end.

The shadows around us are a captive audience as we come together. His kisses brand me. With each passing moment they

grow more passionate. I’ve been deprived of him for too long. I thirst for him with an uncontrollable need.

Hand encompassing my throat, he squeezes until I struggle to breathe. Razor sharp, the tips of claws prick my skin.

Startled, I find crimson red eyes boring menacingly into mine.

Although his voice is a guttural warning, I catch the underline thread of protectiveness.

Something savage and untamed flutters over his features.

A dangerous shifting which makes me conscious of how easily he could destroy me if he ever made the choice.

Fear trickles down my spine.

I’m still bound with aching arms trapped above my head utterly defenceless and at his mercy.

Eyelids fluttering shut, I shiver, letting my other senses take over.

Title: Heartless
Series: Merciless Saga #2 Release Date: July 17, 2018 At first, his words were harsh and his touch cold. I knew he was a dangerous man and he could destroy me if
only he wanted to. That’s not what he wanted though. It’s so easy to get lost in the touch of a man who’s
powerful and unattainable. A man who wants for nothing … except me. Soft touches and stolen glances made my blood heat and my
heartbeat in a way I never knew it could. Yes, it’s easy to fall into a haze of lust and desire. But there’s a reason his reputation is one of a heartless
man. And I should have known better.

Heartless by Willow Winters
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Release Date-17/7/18

So this is book two in the Merciless series and one I was desperately awaiting after that shocking finale we were treated to in its predecessor. So in “Heartless” we actually dial it down a notch and instead really just concentrate on the overall dynamic that is building between Aria and Carter and here I felt we get much more of a sense of connection between the two; more so than I originally felt in Book one. While this was great and I did really enjoy exploring and deciphering the obscurity which is Carters’ brain as well as getting to understand more of what makes Aria tick this did mean a much slower pace overall. For that reason alone, I think I enjoyed this slightly less than “Merciless” It just wasn’t as all-out action and I felt it did drag slightly at times. I mean book one was just so hectic and I think I was expecting this to be along a similar vein. This wasn’t necessarily bad just different. I still really enjoyed this a whole lot though; it was just much more internal angst than I was anticipating until about 70 percent in that is; here it then did start to pick up majorly barreling headlong towards another major cliffhanger. And that’s another thing I could have sworn this was a duo, not what looks to be a four-parter so I was kinda expecting a conclusion that we didn’t actually get; got to say I was a tad bummed out at that fact. This again had few minimal characters as practically all events occur at the house under lockdown. This was also as expected super hot setting the pages alight with its raw sensuality. Told in duel POV and after that ending; well its safe to say I for one will be waiting anxiously for the next chapter here. This was a great second instalment that I am happy to recommend. Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of “Heartless” of which I have reviewed voluntary.

Tapping his fingers together, he doesn’t break our stare. He continues to delve deep into my eyes for four more heartbeats, and then he says, “I’m leaving you.”

The words come out of nowhere and everywhere. They’re wrong, because he’d never do that to me. He promised. Our start wasn’t easy, but I’ve tried my damnedest to be the good wife for him, the wife he wanted. We have Abby. He won’t do this to his daughter.

“I wanted to tell you before,” he says, “but the right opportunity was never there.”

Lowering my voice, I motion at the full restaurant. “This is?” A shutter drops in his regard, and his demeanor turns distant, inaccessible. “I thought it best to move as soon as possible. I don’t want a drawn-out drama.”

I can’t process what’s happening. There were no warning signs, except for his recent withdrawal, but he always pulls into himself when work gets stressful.

“I’ll be out by tomorrow,” he continues. “Why?” My question has nothing to do with him moving out tomorrow.

He doesn’t hesitate in his answer. “Debbie.” I only know one Debbie. “From your office?” “She resigned.” He adds, “Obviously.” As if that’s a consolation. “How did this happen?” “We fell in love.” Tears prick at the back of my eyes, but I blink them away, not wanting witnesses for my pain and humiliation. “How long?” He gets that closed-off look again. “It’s not important.” “The hell it is.” “Jane.” His tone is chastising. “Your language, please.” “Can we talk about this at home?” “There’s no point. My mind’s made up.” “Yes, there is a point. There are things to be said, explained. If you’re so certain of your decision as you say you are–”

Mated on Hades: Celestial Mates by Golden Angel
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Release Date-6/7/18

What’s not to like here; Mated on Hades was a fun interesting read that kept me entertained throughout. This was not especially long; which for me can sometimes be a bit of a deterrent to my overall enjoyment I found it didn’t really affect my experience that much here. I loved the idea of Celestial Mates of different species being paired up, finding it such a fascinating concept to read about. This one had such great imaginative world building and was one I was especially looking forward to delving into and it certainly didn’t disappoint, pulling me in and capturing my attention right from the onset. I also adored the physical appearance of Tarrik with his horns, wings and all that smouldering heat finding it strangely hot and extremely sexy. And man; that tentacle/Tail was super smokin it had a bloody mind all of its own; loved it, it was like it had its own separate individual personality. Tarrik was also such a big man-child with his prickly personality; totally spitting his dummy out in regards to his little human Juliette and her perceived usefulness. Totally loving the single life and captaining his ship with his rag-tag crew through space on his family’s trading vessel he thinks he’s living the dream and there’s no room in it for a useless pesky human. Juliette herself was a very practical girl; a genius when it comes to technology and used to relying soling on herself due to lack of family entanglements it has also left her with a serious case of baggage. with abandonment and trust issues she has closed off her heart with a brick wall. On the run from some self-created trouble back on her home planet, Juliette plans to lie low till the dust settles. Tarriks parents, mainly his mother want him to settle down with a mate so this is how these two very different individuals end up being paired together by Celestial and rubbing each other up in all the right and wrong ways. And get ready to watch the sparks fly as these two sure turn up that heat in more ways than one. So this one was a mega fun read and though short packed a real punch. It was very easy to get lost in and had just the right mix of ingredients to hold my attention. It had some great characters along with such incredibly fun world building a super enjoyable experience overall. A big thumbs up from me folks. My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Release Date-6/7/18

So this was my first book by this particular author and it was mostly a great experience with only a few tiny nit-picks from me. So this was an easy enjoyable read that though part of a series of interconnecting novels that focused on an individual couple, I still managed to follow along with fairly easily. At its heart “Ain’t Doin It” is a contemporary romance with some added suspensful elements. I liked both the main characters Cora and Coke very much; perhaps Coke a teensy bit more than Cora who did have some slightly irritating whiny traits and could be a bit of a drama llama at times. Though I did warm to her more as this story evolved. I adored the fact that this was a slow burn romance and the author did an excellent job of ratcheting up the tension here so when we did eventually get the promised action it was well worth the wait. This had a great cast of secondary characters, but have to say that Cora’s friends did come across like actual adolescents at times, not wives and mothers; I understand they were meant to be portrayed as fun and quirky but for me, that was a total washout missing the mark entirely. Completely understand why Cora tried to avoid them like the plague they would be enough to give anyone a bloody headache. I also really liked the daughter and how she was so refreshingly unspoilt. The blurb itself here I thought was really misleading Cora’s dad wasn’t a complete fan of his daughter’s new relationship but I didn’t think he ever came across as completely hostile; more like reserving judgement until a later date and its never suggested; as far as I can see that he ever wants him dead. And also the twenty year age gap well correct me if I’m wrong but twenty-five and thirty-five is a ten year age gap. I know it’s been a while since I left school but I can count.

I still liked the story but Its a real bug-bear of mine when we get misleading book blurbs. Just tell me like it is already.

As for the ex-wife, I wouldnt say she was offended about Cole and Cora’s friendship the woman is a bona-fida nut job; a real class A loony-tune psycho biotch. How Cole managed to stay married to the cray-cray Ex-wife for all those years and stayed relatively sane is a conundrum indeed. My other winge is I felt there might be a tad too much going on in terms of plausible plotlines. I prefered this story before things went to shite on a shovel and felt all the unnecessary drama only muddied the picture. At its heart, The more simplistic aspect of boy meets girl and falls hard is what I prefered most about this tale, that was refreshingly lovely. How they met, got to know each other properly before jumping into the sack together.I also especially adored the epilogue here was just so touching and sweet. Just one last thing here I’m really over the whole virgin at twenty-five thing; are there even any of those unicorn’s around in real life. Weighing up the whole she-bang though this had more positives than negatives and I really did enjoy myself overall; I will definitely be checking out more of this authors work to have a nose at. I was provided with an ARC of “Ain’t Doin’ It (Simple Man, #4) ” By the author of which I have reviewed voluntary.
