-A reclusive rock star going through the motions-

Jake McKallister might have been a rock star, but he was no ordinary one. Surviving an unspeakable crime as a young teen had shaped him into a guarded workaholic, and he now lived his life trying to forget. If it hadn’t been for music and the redemption he found through it, he might not have survived. Career success came easily for him. Personal connections did not.

-A vivacious college student embracing life-

When outspoken and fun-loving Casey Caldwell was paired with the famously reserved musician for a friend’s wedding, she was prepared for the worst. What could they possibly have in common? She was a bubbly talker; he was a media-shy loner. His life was filled with music; she couldn’t carry a tune. She’d enjoyed a happy childhood; his was a well-publicized nightmare.

-Their worlds are about to collide-

Despite their obvious differences, Jake and Casey found each other, and her light balanced out his darkness. Would their love be strong enough to survive the weight of his tragic past?

Eternal Desire by Kim Loraine
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Release Date-27/2/18

So this is the first book I have read by this author and I found it an enjoyable experience. Eternal Desire is a Paranormal romance involving Witches and Shifters and arch-angels. Three witches to be precise. All cursed to die young because of previous events. And I’m assuming each sister witch here is going to be given their own particular tale as I noticed further story-lines being set up for at least one of them. Eternal Fire itself involved Izzy and Grant. Izzy is a witch and Grant a made shifter with a pack. These two are like oil and water neither paranormal species usually co-existing also there magic is so different so to find a mate like this is unheard off. Also to further complicate matters the girls have a price on their head and Grants pack has been tasked with the hit on them. Also, interwoven into this picture is the love story of Isolde and Tristan the one of legend. Both were under a previous love spell and in one of Izzy’s past lives, her heart was laid bare and broken from this leaving her unwilling to take a chance on Grant and risk her heart again. So with her curse hanging over her, Izzy has battened down her hatches. Unwilling to allow love to break her for the second time. Tristan himself does pop up here to further stir the pot and muddy the waters. but Eternal desire mainly involves Grant trying to protect Izzy from his pack. And Izzy not surprisingly fighting him every step of the way.

So, Grant, I liked but there were times he annoyed me like when he considered giving up Izzy

Izzy I found was very indecisive and I did find this a trifle annoying at times just make up your mind girl. Overall taking everything into consideration though I did like both main characters. They were real with quirks and faults that made them seem more human. I found the storyline here to be easy to follow there were a few inconsistencies in regards to plot like wolves being turned to ash and then resurrected. But reading another review this is going to be corrected in the finished product. I was reading an ARC here so was prepared for some minor errors. I’m assuming this book is part of a bigger series and this is a spin-off, don’t let that put you off this can totally be read as a standalone. I found this to be a hot read and you could definitely feel the chemistry between Izzy and Grant. So, in conclusion, this was a fun paranormal read that kept my attention throughout. I was provided with an ARC of “Eternal Desire (Siren Coven, #1) ” By the author of which I have reviewed voluntary.

Defying Him by Zoe Blake
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Release Date-27/2/18

So Zoe Blake Is fast becoming a go-to author for me. Her reads may be quick but I find they deliver every time. And Defying Him for me was no different. So this book has a little bit of everything and though low on angst and lacking major secondary characters it still packed a mega punch. The mystery and atmospheric unease throughout more than making up for the short length here and I really did enjoy this tale. So Phoebe is an investigative journalist working undercover as an English professor at the military academy at Buzzards Bay. lieutenant Colonel Michael Lawson / The Commander is the marine brought in by the Navy to act as head and flush out the murderer that is using the academy as a camouflage for there criminal actions. Sparks fly straight from the get-go between these two and their chemistry together was certainly sizzling hot. I can always rely on a Zoe Blake story to get my pulse raised, Defying him was no exception perhaps maybe a little less graphic than some of her other works but it was by no means low on the heat factor. I loved the overall mystery conveyed here and this was such an easy and at times, creepy read. Both Phoebe and Michael were extremely likeable individuals that were easy to relate to.

My only major criticism here was an action of Michaels near the end.

Shaking my head in utter disbelief here.

That was definitely a bit of a brain fart moment. So despite that one issue, I did enjoy The rest of this book it was an enthralling quick read that I am happy to recommend. I was provided with an ARC of “Defying Him” By the author of which I have reviewed voluntary.

For when I return home, Jackson is there, and he finds out very quickly who I am.

Problem is, I’m not sure that I’ve ever known who I really am.

When I was a child my favourite fairytale was Beauty And The Beast. I dreamed of sacrificing myself for my father, and bravely going to an enchanted castle to live with the Beast. There I gently kissed the beast and transformed him into a handsome Prince.

Now, I’m an adult, and it appears I have somehow wandered into the enchanted mansion of a beast. He is cold and harsh and cannot be transformed with a gentle kiss, but strangely, I don’t want to transform him.
Every single atom in my body, from the tips of my hair to the soles of my feet vibrates, throbs, and calls for my beast to take me … again and again.

Soon the whole world will know my name … but first I have a distraction to deal with. The matter of a manipulative lying little thief.

When I catch up with her, those bright, scheming eyes try their best to work their magic on me. Somebody should have told Chelsea Appleby no one steals from Thorne Blackmore.

She tells me she will pay me back. She is sorry. She wants more time. The problem is I don’t actually need the money back. What I need is to punish her. To possess and own every beautiful inch of her body.

I want to leave my mark on her delicate English skin. Forever.

This is a full length standalone with no cheating and guaranteed HEA. Includes bonus content.

Blackmailed by the beast by Georgia Le Carre
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I have read a lot of Georgia Le Carre and I usually love her work but I have to admit this one wasn’t my favourite. It wasn’t awful it was just an OK read for me. First, that synthesis was a real puller only problem was it had little to do with the actual plot here. Blackmailed by the beast was a bit of a mish-mash that sometimes worked but at other times left me scratching my head in confusion. A lot of issues I found here were just inserted into the story and then not tied up so overall this felt at times finished and unmessy. I’m assuming the final words here were to leave a bit of an opening for maybe a second book. So maybe that’s why there seemed to be holes in the storyline. I’ll give you an example Chelsea gets warned off by an ex-girlfriend, don’t get to cosy she said. Well, we never hear from this girl again. There’s a lot more of the same throughout. I did like this but didn’t love it. I think the main reason was that it wasn’t quite what I thought it to be and I found it to be a lot shorter than what I was initially expecting. It still found this entertaining and I did finish so that’s a plus.

Can anybody trust her?

Don’t Trust Me by Joss Stirling
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Release Date-23/2/18

Don’t Trust Me by Joss Stirling was a very enjoyable Psychological thriller.
The story centres around Jessica and the surrounding events that occur after she returns from a holiday in the sun with her older boyfriend renowned criminologist Michael.
It’s quite apparent from the very beginning that her relationship with him is on the rocks.
He believes her to be a fantasist with a made up job and also a pathological liar who needs help for her constantly destructive behaviour.
In fact, Jessica’s main offence is actually a mental breakdown from depression after her integrity over events with a student was called into question in her previous teaching position.
She resigned on the advice of Michael rather than waiting to be sacked.
This as a result, ended her career in education but also came with an added diagnosis of ADHD.
from Jessica’s therapist which at last explained an awful lot to her.
So after returning from there holiday Michael makes a swift exit leaving on business.
Jessica proceeds to travel to her job of three months, researching runaways but on arriving her keys no longer fit and her boss seems to have cleared out without a trace.
dumfounded Jessica starts to look into things unwittingly uncovering more than she realises and it’s not long before events themselves escalate dramatically leaving Jessica floundering for answers.
So there was a lot going on here.
Don’t Trust Me was a tangled web of intrigue and mystery where nobody could be taken on face value and everybody was a suspect in themselves.
This is told mainly from Jessicas POV with the occasional side scene dedicated to Michael, who does definitely come across as a bit of a jerk.
There is also the input of journal entries from Michaels perfect dead wife, these add an interesting touch and perspective also adding further intimacy and insight into her final days.
Jessica herself is a hot mess, many things contributing to her present self.
She is actually I found a contrast in contradictions, sometimes so difficult to like especially when she goes off plan, selfish decisions and ill thought through actions contribute to her self-destructive conduct.
Other times you kind of get where she’s at and why she behaves the way she does.
And when she does do sweet and considerate you realise she’s just human at the end of the day.
So yeh difficult one to call, but I did like her the majority of the time.
So The secondary characters here were fantastic each with there own role to play.
My hands-down favourite here though has to be Jessica’s friend Drew I absolutely adored everything about the lad in fact if I’m honest I’m not sure Jessica truly deserved him, needed him perhaps and he was definitely good for her but overall he was a lot more decent than she was.
Saying that I am glad he gave her a chance as he helped her to be a better person overall.
And I liked the fact immensely that he was just a normal everyday bloke.
So every little action here was interconnected.
Nothing completely random or left to chance.
Don’t Trust me was all wrapped up so neatly and splendidly and I was super impressed with the way the author had carefully crafted the finish of this story.
I did guess some things here but that no way took away from my overall enjoyment of this novel.
I found this book to be an engaging piece of fiction that I am happy to recommend.
I was provided with an ARC of “Don’t Trust Me” By Netgalley of which I have reviewed voluntary.

Make Me Want by Katee Robert
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Release Date-22/2/18

Make Me Want (Make Me, #1) by Katee Robert was such an enjoyable read.
It tells the story of Lucy Baudin and Gideon Novak (love the name, Gideon BTW).
When Lucy needs a husband to progress in her job at her law firm she calls in a favour from former friend Gideon.
Gideon once the best friend of Lucy’s former fiancee and also the individual that had broken the news of Lucy’s fiancee’s infidelities is wallowing in guilt.
Not only did it take him a month to come clean to Lucy about her cheating fiancee and break her heart in the progress he has also been madly in love with Lucy for years.
So when she calls in a favour how can he say no.
Gideon is a very successful headhunter by profession but he can honestly say that this is the first time he has been asked to procure a husband for a client, not that this would stop him from completing this unusual task, he would do anything in his power to make Lucy happy.
On top of this said ex-fiancee has done a massive number on Lucy making her doubt her whole appeal and worth as a woman in all the ways that actually matter and as a result of this Lucy asks Gideon to be her coach in all things sensual.
Gideon agrees on one condition he gets Lucy exclusively for the duration of these lessons.
But It’s not long before all the rules are being thrown out the window as the two former friends begin to connect in ways that Gideon has been dreaming of for years.
So “Make Me Want” was a fantastic read, it has such flow and ease about it that I had no trouble getting lost here.
I loved both the main characters and was rooting For Lucy to see Gideon as the only contender for her love and affections.
And Gideon himself I just wanted him to spill the beans and reveal all in regard to his heart’s desire.
They were both such easy characters to like and feel a connection with.
Which I’m happy to say I did, feeling so invested in the outcome of there overall relationship practically from the beginning here.
It also helped massively that Gideon’s and Lucy’s chemistry was extremely explosive setting the pages alight with its intensity.
It was also so refreshing to simply read a book where the characters laid themselves bare, exposing their vulnerabilities without apology.
There were few secondary characters here but what did appear were great and added an additional flavour to the overall story.
So I found “Make Me Want” to be a fabulous new contemporary that in my opinion delivered on all fronts.
I found it a fresh sexy addition to its genre and am happy to recommend this enjoyable tale.
I was provided with an ARC of “Make Me Want” By Netgalley of which I have reviewed voluntary.

I’m engaged to be married. But I have feelings for someone else… my sisters soon to be ex.

I keep feeling this magnetic pull toward Guy. Maybe it’s his British accent. Or the way his hair curls at the ends that makes me want to run my hands through it. Maybe it’s the way his eyes crinkle when he smiles. Whatever it is, something is there, and I can’t shake it.

He’s my brother in law. It’s so wrong on so many levels. Even if there was a possibility there, it feels wrong because he belonged to my sister first. It’s becoming hard to ignore the nervousness that swirls inside me whenever I’m around him.

Since my sister left Guy, I’ve barely heard from her. However, he’s thrown himself into the restaurant and even won an award for Best Steakhouse in the area. That is exceptionally rare for such a new restaurant. Lately, I’ve noticed there hasbeen a little pep in Guy’s step.

“Hey.” Smiling, I tug on his sleeve playfully.

“Yeah?” He spins around to face me.

“It’s good to have you back.”

“What did you call it? Back to the land of the living.” He smirks, nudging my arm with his elbow.

I laugh. “Yeah.”

“With the restaurant flourishing, I’m happy to be busy.”

To top everything off, I’ve been feeling this magnetic pull toward Guy. I don’t know. Maybe it’s his British accent, or the way his hair curls at the ends, that makes me want to run myhands through it. Maybe it’s the way his eyes crinkle when he smiles.

Whatever it is, something is there. And I can’t shake it. He’s my brother-in-law. Or my soon to be ex-brother-in-law. It’s so wrong on so many levels. Even if there was a possibility there, he belonged to my sister first. But it’s becoming hard to ignore the nervousness that swirls in my belly and my fast beating heart whenever I’m around him.

Six months ago, my boyfriend of five years finally proposed, and I said yes. That was way before my feelings for Guy shifted. Just being in Guy’s presence is already affecting me in ways that I can’t explain.

Then again, just because I feel a pull to someone, it doesn’t mean I’m in love with him. But my fast beating heart thinks otherwise.

One that didn’t include hunting rogue demons and battling archangels to settle an ancient score at the expense of humanity. One comprised of a home and a family and all the things I’d longed for as a broken child.

We stood strong. We fought. We lost.

I lost.

Legion, the demon I dared to love, was gone.

Now I’m going to tear myself in two and do the unthinkable to find him. I’m going to put my trust in his brother, his enemy, and make a deal with the Devil. And while his darkness and depravity echo mine, I know this won’t end well for either of us.

My body may survive, maybe even my soul. I can’t promise the same for my heart. This time, I will not fail. I will not hesitate. And if it comes down to it, I’ll be the weapon I was created to be. I will follow the code of the Se7en, and do what I should have done when we had the chance.

Eulogy by Rachel Van Dyken

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Release Date-20/2/18

Words can’t describe how much I adored Eulogy (Eagle Elite, #9) by Rachel Van Dyken.
I’m actually a bit of a newcomer to this series.
Only reading RIP which is set in the same world but a spin-off to this.
It was actually that book which made me want to dip my toe in here and even though I have every intention now of rewinding and starting at the beginning I will say that this can totally be read as a stand-alone.
I had absolutely no trouble following along and I am so glad I gave this a go as I now have a whole new series to devour.
So Eulogy tells the tale of Chase Abandonato and following events in the previous books he is on a downward spiral to hell.
Chase is basically on a suicide mission to totally annihilate his dead wife’s entire family line after her unforgivable betrayal.
Gone is the joker and laid back funny guy and in his place is a man his nearest and dearest no longer recognise.
Luciana is the young attractive lawyer sent to work for the families.
Supplied by Nikolai AKA Dr Death, she is totally clueless about what she is getting herself involved in.
Afraid of her own shadow she is poles apart from what Chase is used to.
And as the files she needs are at Chase’s home this is where she needs to stay.
And with Chase threating to shoot her every five minutes, well let’s just say the poor girl is quivering in her boots.
So as I said earlier I adored this and this was a totally new side to chase, that even with my limited exposure to the series I noticed.
A much deeper and broken psyche.
Luc herself being a much more gentle soul is exactly what he needs to attempt to put the pieces of his soul back together.
Trying in her own way to take care of him and singing him to sleep.
I felt so much for Chase here and the more I read, the deeper I fell for this mismatched couple.
And as Luc fell deeper under Chase’s spell her ability to accept all the tarnished bits of Chase’s life and then embrace them wholeheartedly was entrancing.
Luc herself, Showing her love in such an extreme manner, especially considering her total un-exposure to the mafia lifestyle, was So courageous of her.
Sometimes it takes an extreme act to knock some actual sense into a stubborn, macho, head.
Make a certain someone wake up and notice whats there for the taking, right under there nose.
That is so what Luc accomplishes here with Chase though I don’t think that was her original intention.
It was just a much-deserved by-product of her totally selfless act.
So I think its safe to say I bloody adored Eulogy, everybody who loves a good mafia story needs to give this series a go.
I read this in one actual sitting, I found it that addictive.
I just now need to make the time to read the rest of this amazing series.
Which I will definitely make a serious priority.
I was provided with an ARC of “Eulogy” By the author of which I have reviewed voluntary.
