Wren’s rebellion failed.

Caspian has marked her, Toby has claimed her, and Kieran is unwillingly caught in her spell. Affection and betrayal, pleasure and pain—each Alpha with their own brand of demands and desires.

Broken Captive: Wren’s Song Book 3 is a dark, sinister Omegaverse Reverse Harem tale for those with twisted tastes and a passion for unabashed bad boys. Complete power exchange dominates these pages, as do THREE smoking-hot Alpha antiheroes.

Broken Captive by Addison Cain
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Broken Captive part 3 of Wren’s story was super dark and diabolic. It was everything thing broken and messed up wrapped up in one big dirty filthy dystopian bow. This wasn’t romantic in any shape or form and Caspian, Toby and Kieran are psychotic power hungry man-whores who lack a basic conscience or any sort of compassion and empathy. Well, I might give Toby a pass; hes just your garden variety psycho and can even be somewhat sweet in a scary serial killer sort of way. But the point is the story should have had me screaming for the hills it’s just that extreme and wrong. But what should turn me the hell off here did the exact opposite and made me dig in my heels for the long haul. So I originally swung back and forth between a four and five rating here but decided to go with my gut as this was such compelling reading that I couldn’t put it down: whether you love this or hate it this is one story that you won’t forget in a hurry its certainly in a league all of its own in that respect. If you think you can handle this level of dark then this one certainly delivers on that front. Just please be aware this series is hardcore and doesn’t pull its punches one little bit. I voluntary reviewed an Arc of Broken Captive (Wren’s Song, #3).

They say your first kiss should be earned.

Mine was stolen by a devil in a masquerade mask under the black Chicago sky.

They say the vows you take on your wedding day are sacred.

Mine were broken before we left church.

They say your heart only beats for one man.

Mine split and bled for two rivals who fought for it until the bitter end.

I was promised to Angelo Bandini, the heir to one of the most powerful families in the Chicago Outfit.

Then taken by Senator Wolfe Keaton, who held my father’s sins over his head to force me into marriage.

They say that all great love stories have a happy ending.

I, Francesca Rossi, found myself erasing and rewriting mine until the very last chapter.

One kiss. Two men. Three lives.

Entwined together.

And somewhere between these two men, I had to find my forever.

The Kiss Thief by L.J. Shen
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

So I am a big fan of this author so was so excited to get my mitts on an advanced copy of the Kiss Thief and for the most part I really did enjoy this: it was as usual extremely well written and such a page-turner and I, of course, read it in one entire sitting. The kiss thief tells the story of senator Wolfe Keaton a powerful man with a hidden agenda and secrets that run deep and Francesca Rossi first daughter of the Chicago outfit whose father has built his legacy on the backs and hearts of the people of Chicago. With an informal agreement to marry her childhood companion Angelo Bandini and supposed love of her life Francesca is naturally horrified and beside herself when her father hands her over for marriage to the senator himself what follows is an unconventional courtship where these two start to fall deeper down the rabbit hole the more time, they spend together. So as I said I did enjoy myself here the reason this didn’t get a higher rating from me was mainly a personal one. I am not a fan of love triangles and this one predominately featured one at its centre. I just can’t get to grips with them and they irritate me to the point of madness because of this I usually try to give them a wide berth. That being said because I’m such a fan of this author I decided to take a chance and while I am glad I did I still wanted to scream in frustration constantly at the immature antics of the trio involved here. I will say know it was quite apparent who Francesca favoured from quite an early onset so this had that on its side at least. I also wasn’t a fan of the constant OM/OW drama from both sides. In my opinion, they were both behaving as badly as one another and two wrongs definitely don’t make a right. That aside: the rest of this I enjoyed, and though not a perfect full house from my corner there were enough positives here to keep me on board and invested overall. Can I just add as a side note I loved this pairs nicknames for each other so unique. Referring to Francesca as a teenager all the time: not so much she was hardly that and an eleven year age gap is nothing in the scheme of things. This one still does get a thumbs up from me it was overall an extremely engrossing read. I voluntary reviewed an Arc of The Kiss Thief.

The Betrayals by Fiona Neill
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

So this one was a bust for me: I really didn’t enjoy it at all. I felt like I was waiting for some big reveal to happen and It never actually did. It was all so anti-climatic in nature and that ending for me was just so sudden and abrupt. It’s a shame really as the writing style here I did enjoy: this was great and was ever so easy to follow along with: but the story itself I found that to be a let down it never quite managed to capture my undivided attention. Really my main issue here was I was bored and it was only the fact that this was an Arc that I persevered until the very end though I did find myself somewhat skimming in places. So the idea here was very clever and in some way applied a three degrees of separation concept to the characters involved. every action has a polar reaction and every unrelated incident is somehow connected on an alternate level eventually coming full circle: see really ingenious. I may not have fully appreciated this but I can still applaud the author’s creativity in this matter. This was told from various POV: it was almost the same story from different perspectives portraying how each person can see the same incident but with a totally different interpretation and overall clarity concerning the exact same event. The writing itself here had such an easy style I just failed to connect on any deeper level. So this also explores a variety of diverse subjects from infidelity, betrayal, mental health: there really is a whole lot going on. I think this will be more down to the style of fiction you ultimately like rather than the merits of is it well written: As I said earlier I cannot fault it in that regard. On reflection, I would say this is more of a family drama type novel and it’s just a shame that It wasn’t really my cup of tea. I voluntary reviewed an Arc of The Betrayals.

My Husband’s Lies by Caroline England
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This one for me wasn’t really my bag at all. It was also filled with some truly awful individuals that I had great trouble feeling any sympathy for whatsoever. I mean there were some normal ones as well but I have never seen so many selfish peeps all in one book. I was frankly for the most part quite bored throughout and I only actually kept reading here because I was waiting for the other shoe to drop; newsflash it didn’t. I also found it quite hard going keeping the whole cast here straight in my head, it got quite confusing separating the characters as there were just so many of them to contend with. This had actually quite a lot going on here hence me hoping there was going to be an upward tilt at some point. At Its heart “My Husbands Lies” was for me a book about relationships and the tangled threads they can weave. We deal here with the repercussions of these secrets, hidden attractions and downright deceitfulness, throw in some mental illness and its really just a cauldron of catastrophe waiting to explode dramatically. And it does; though got to say when things finally reached their momentum here I was actually passed caring. That shocking finale for me actually felt slightly anti-climatic in nature and I could see it coming a mile off. On a side-note, I do think more could have been made with the Mother/Not my mother storyline I was disappointed that this was not expanded on and explored more fully. So on reflection, as much as I wish otherwise this one wasn’t quite to my taste; maybe it will be more to yours. Thank you to the Publisher, Author and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of “My Husbands Lies” of which I have reviewed voluntary.

Sworn by Maria Luis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Release Date-17/5/18

“Sworn” by Maria Luis was such a good read it was also the first thing I’ve read by this particular author. From the minute I started this I was transfixed and transported into the fascinating world of Avery and Lincoln. Set against the decadent background of New Orleans; we are swiftly immersed into this rich tapestry of secrets and lies. “Sworn” features Lincoln and Avery; the former a cop and the latter a tarot reading runner just trying to live her life whilst also staying under the radar. Hiding really; in plain sight. When these two finally connect sparks do fly, but with both hiding so much from each other and also drowning in undisclosed information how can it ultimately work between them both. Well, I for one couldn’t wait to find out. And got to say this was just so good. like seriously couldn’t put it down good; the chemistry between our H and h was rocking and really hot and the storyline here was just action-packed with never a dull moment throughout. And that ending MAN!!!! what a cliffhanger; I for one can’t wait to discover the outcome from where we left it here. Good job I don’t have to wait too long ay. So this is told in dual POV and is relatively low on centre stage secondary characters. There’s really only Katie; Avery’s best-mate/roomie, who I really adored by the way. It’s an easy to follow, well-written piece of fiction that definitely gets the stamp of approval from me. This is one of them stories that just grabs you by the throat and digs in. I need the next instalment of this like yesterday. Thank You to the Author for providing me with an ARC of “Sworn (Blood Duet, #1) ” of which I have reviewed voluntary. Blood and Secrets by Rose Harper
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Release Date-1/5/18

So I struggled a fair bit with Blood and Secrets (The Calvetti Family) hence my lower star rating. On reflection, I’m not really convinced the blurb here reflected the overall content contained in this book. And while on paper this actually looked like a good fit for me, in reality, this was so not the case. there were some major red flags with this book that had I known beforehand I would have avoided like the plague. In particular the mistress Camille and also Mateo’s blatant disregard and disrespect for his future wife’s feelings or even her reputation for that matter. To allow his mistress to basically look down her nose at his future wife the way she did, well it absolutely boiled my blood. I was ready to rip them both a new one I was that livid and annoyed with there contemptuous antics. I also really disliked Mateo like detested him a lot. He was such an arrogant dick who really needed taking down a peg or two. I detested his holier than thou attitude. It was like he thought he was the only one that mattered and talk about a god complex with an over-inflated ego what a douchebag. And the way he treated Carina and referred to her as a slit, in my opinion, was just abysmal. So, This really got to me and I had to force myself to keep reading because I was just so darn uncomfortable with the storyline. Despite the above, I have still given this two stars as occasionally there were instances that had me intrigued against my better judgment. I just thought ultimately this could have been executed a lot better than It was. This wasn’t badly written just not my bag at all. I won’t be reading the next instalment basically for the above reason that this was just a bad fit that blind-sided me as It was totally unprepared for it. Thank You to the Author for providing me with an ARC of “Blood And Secrets (The Calvetti Family)” of which I have reviewed voluntary.

Sinister Love by T.L. Smith
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Release Date-24/4/18

Well got, to be honest, I was dreading this book.
“Distorted Love” Broke me and as much as I wanted to finally conclude the angsty journey I originally started in that Previous volume, I was also shitting bricks that “Sinister Love” was going to finish the job that was started then.

Never have I enjoyed a book so much but totally detested The Male hero (And he was definitely no hero) And After the antics in the previous volume, I started this with an initial sense of dread and a well lets get this over with attitude, I just needed some closure. This was, thank god, not as angsty as the first book. And though Ryken eventually came to his senses and decided where his loyalties lay I hold a grudge, and I just couldn’t make myself forgive him for what he had previously done.

I found myself, still wanting to stick him with sharp objects in retaliation for his previous selfish and self-serving actions.

I still enjoyed this very much but got to say nothing can, for me, justify a man who plays two women off against each other. Especially when it’s For his own weirdly obscure reasonings, that makes absolutely no sense to anyone but him. Just be a man and choose, stop selfishly playing with the lives of others.

it says a lot about me that the collecting of girls and murder was something I can overlook but the emotional and physical betrayal, I’m struggling with here.

So glad this is over I so needed the closure and this was such a bittersweet read. I was also suitably shocked when the identity of the traitor finally emerges and the reasons why. Didn’t see that one coming. So this was a good read that manages to nicely cross the T’s and dot the I’s. It did a great job of collecting and tying up all the loose ends into a nice tidy package. I am happy to recommend this duo as a fab read, but be aware it’s an angst-filled ride. So Thank You to the Author for providing me with an ARC of “Sinister Love” (Dark Intentions #2) of which I have reviewed voluntary.

Trophy Wife by Alessandra Torre

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

MMM, this is a hard one, on the one hand, I very much enjoyed Trophy Wife and on the other, there was some real no no’s that totally turn me off when it comes to erotic fiction. This is the main reason I’ve marked it down in my ratings. Now obviously what sinks my ship may float your boat and more, we are all different and you may find my reasons don’t bother you at all. Now there are gonna be some teeny spoilers ahead as It’s major unavoidable if I am going to explain why I’ve marked this down. My major hard limit CHEATING!!!!! and not only cheating, the fact that no one’s really bothered and I know this may seem a bit boring, but I like my Lover & Lovee to save the honey for each other, no excuses, no we were on a break and definitely no contact of any kind whatsoever, no exceptions and that means kissing also. Why you might ask. BECAUSE THERE MEANT TO BE BLOODY IN LOVE!!!!!! or getting there at least and I’m a die hard romantic like that. So yes no bodily contact with others while still being as filthy as downright sin is the flavour I like to see in my reading. So, of course, this is where Trophy Wife let me down a bit, I maybe could have overlooked this if either Nathan or Candy had got their knickers in a twist diva style or something to that effect, but no let’s brush it under the carpet like it never happened, and yes it’s still cheating in my book when he takes his ex-girlfriend back and sleeps with her while still being married to Candy. So the poor boy needed to get his leg over with his ex to decide he’s in love with his wife geez!! What happened did a shag unlock his brain. And I do know that Candy is not exactly innocent either, They both behaved like a pair of absolute bloody pillocks in my opinion. The second thing I had an issue with was the car incident. I have nothing against voyeurism at all but when Nathan gets candy to perform a certain service for his business associate and calls her a derogatory name in front of him well this wasn’t hot or sexy one iota I was cringing in shame for the poor girl, awful behaviour. The third and final thing and it may seem a tad silly but it’s the name CANDY!!! I hate it, it sounds like a stereotypical strippers name, which I know Candy is, but couldn’t the poor girl have had something more sophisticated than Candy. Despite my above bugbears, I really did like the rest of this book. It was mucky as hell and hot hot hot. The story flowed brilliantly and I especially loved seeing the inner thoughts of both Candy & Nathan. I feel that we needed to see inside Nathan’s head as well as if I hadn’t I don’t know if I could have warmed to him at all. He was such a dominant man, his vulnerability was so well hidden that it was his musings inside is own head that showed he had a softer side. Trophy Wife by Alessandra Torre gets a three & half from me a great read with some issues that for me are just personal preferences. You they might not affect at all. Trophy Wife is currently free on KU.

Eternity by Tmonique Stephens

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Eternity-Descendants of Ra is the first book I have read by this author. On reading the blurb I noticed that this had a very interesting unique plot-line, this is what initially drew me to this piece of writing along with the heavy Egyptian influence Eternity seemed to offer me, I am so a sucker for anything to do with Egyptian mythology. This book for me was a mixture of contrasts, some parts I loved, others not so much. I still overall enjoyed the experience and definitely want to read the next installment in the series there were just some niggling personal preferences I found hard to reconcile with that I think let it down slightly. Let’s start with our main characters- Stella, I didn’t find her that easy to connect with initially and I’m not actually sure why, maybe it’s because I found her a bit bland and one-dimensional, forgettable( not counting the opening scene that is, that was way intense ) she did start to grow on me more as the story commenced luckily. I am also very skeptical that Stella thinks she can identify her assailant just from the shade of his eyes when he was wearing a balaclava, that’s just insanely far-fetched in my opinion. But all this aside Our Stella did become more interesting the further on Eternity progressed and I did find myself liking her especially with all the weird crap being thrown her way, MAN!!!! give the poor girl a break. Now Roman, at first I really liked him and felt quite an immense dollop of sympathy for our heart wrenched immortal. poor man, aw, must be awful to keep losing his beloved over and over again. AND THEN HE HAD TO SPOIL IT ALL!!!! What the freaken hell was he playing at Romancing and seducing Stella when he still had a fiance (Oh Bianca of the massive rock on her finger) when he hadn’t had the TALK!!! with her poor girl, it wasn’t her fault Roman was only marrying her because he felt lonely perhaps he should have enlighted Bianca of that selfish man. the other main person we see so much of is Daniel. he is one of Romans progenies who he has raised and brought into his family almost like a beloved a son. He is also the killer that attacked Stella at the beginning. He is massively jealous of his savior and this, in turn, has somehow turned him bitter and evil. WHY ? I don’t get it I was often jealous of my siblings growing up it didn’t turn me into a killer lol seems extreme. There were other secondary characters the plot had on the sidelines but these three Stella, Roman and Daniel are the main go to guys. so in summary for me, we have, good points – Fast-paced storyline, well written, Egyptian influence, immortal hottie. Bad points- cheating douche bag, indecisive hero and by this I mean yes I want to do you, nooo I don’t go away, come back, nooo. GGGRRR make up your mind rebound Roman. Ungrateful evil pleb (who’s been given everything) of a relative (I still don’t get it ) I was also a teeny bit confused about what happened to Bianca the now ex-fiance, after the maze incident nobody seems to mention her again, where is the girl, wait I think Stella asked after her at the hospital and was told she was now an ex-fiance, what the heck!!!! surely she was a bit freaked out after Daniels show and tell, what was she told? where is she now? this was an enjoyable read, with an HEA and a lot of room for future series growth. I think being the first of the series the plot was heading in numerous different directions and this was what made the sub-plots slightly confusing. Maybe this was why I had trouble connecting, as I was trying to keep it all straight in my head. I have tried to give my honest opinion while still being fair and this in my view is a great start to what promises to be an interesting series. I received a copy of this e-book for my honest opinion.

Surrender is not survival.

Claire is desperate. Her once thriving city lies in ruins. The strongest of the three human dynamics, Alphas, have grown feral. Common Betas circle like vultures. The lowest in the hierarchy, rare and weak Omegas like Claire, are being destroyed. Sheltering amidst a dwindling enclave of frightened Omega women, Claire cannot provide enough to feed them all; her friends are starving.

All due to one escaped convict’s violent rise to power.

Shepherd is every bit as ruthless as his reputation suggests. Despite taking every possible precaution, Claire is captured and her worst nightmare realized. Shepherd, discovering a rare Omega in his midst, claims her like a prize, forcing a pair-bond that ties her to him forever.

She fights her instincts and his will because no matter how manipulative the bond might be, she despises what he’s done to her people. If she cannot find a way to help her friends, if she cannot escape, everyone she loves will die.

Publisher’s Note: The first book in Addison Cain’s exciting, raw, and suspense-filled Omegaverse series is a dark tale with explicit sexual themes and complete power exchange. Though situations may be interpreted as romantic, this is a story about the effect of extreme circumstances on the human psyche and the consequences of obsession—not a standard romance. If such material offends you, please do not purchase.

Born to be Bound by Addison Cain

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wasn’t sure what I was going to think when I started to read this book but boy in a word AMAZING!!!!. I love the whole idea of omega’s, beta’s and Alpha’s the whole concept of Heat cycle’s nesting and pair mates was so very unique. A very quick explanation of Born to be Bound is Claire an omega goes to try and secure help for her fellow omega’s from Shepherd The Head alpha in charge after the undercroft the prison system for the domed city has overtaken and toppled the city’s government. The omegas are starving and being hunted. Instead, shepherd takes Claire hostage killing ten men in the process and forcing a pair bond, when Claire goes into heat. After some drama, an escape and some very shocking action’s on shepherds part that stunned me stupid, the mate bond is damaged to an extent that leads to a shocking finale.totally get Claire’s reaction what on earth is going through that alphas head, cannot get my head round shepherds mindset is he evil or misunderstood time will tell, don’t think any amount of purring is going to get him off the hook this time, enthralling read so looking forward to book two
