Two broken souls, fighting for freedom…

Victoria.

When I suddenly found myself in a world of darkness and despair, my only escape was to run. It was the only way I knew how to breathe.
Life had been one big shit storm and I longed to find the rainbow.

But it never came.

Scared.

Alone.

I was fighting for survival and longed to be saved.

Then it happened…

That little piece of hope finally broke through—creating the release I so desperately needed— and gave me a reason for living.

The night I met a stranger in the dark, he consumed me like no other. He gave me hope, and, even though I still felt the need to run, I can’t—not from him.

However, like everything in my life, it all seems too good to be true, because fate isn’t on my side. It never has been.

Lucas.

I was a man of my word until I made a promise I failed to keep. My world turned grey, my nights even darker, as I suffered in the silence of my own nightmares.

Damaged.

Broken.

I longed for an escape, a distraction from my troubled mind.

Then it happened…

Little did I know that distraction would come with long, raven-black hair and a smile that took my breath away.

She changed me; she changed everything.

From the very second I held her, I knew her heart was scarred too, and I wanted to do everything within my power to fix her.

A life should be lived without fear and all she ever did was try to escape it. I needed to prevent that. I needed to protect her with every beat of my heart and every breath that I had.

But now I’m not sure if it will be enough.

Even though we may be broken individually, our hearts as one are stronger than ever. We are each other’s answer.

“Saved By You (The Spring Rose Bay Series, #3)” is the first book I have read by this particular author and know part of an ongoing series and third in the Spring Rose Bay series this can totally, in my opinion, be read as a standalone.
The story here centres around Victoria and Lucas each with there own set of personal demons they are struggling to overcome.
Almost instantly upon meeting; these two lost souls soon discover that they are each other’s safe sanctuary to shelter from the dark demons that plague their inner psyches.
Each finding in the other an almost serenity within, a calming from there internal storms if you will.
So I did find myself really enjoying this story.
Although these two do fall for each other extremely fast it didn’t bother me like it usually does.
The insta-feelings seemed to actually fit and with the contrasting internal turmoil being an added contender here it just didn’t feel forced at all.
This was told in dual POV and also had the extra bonus of a fantastic side cast of previous characters all interconnected but also able to function independently; so there was no need for previous exposure to this series.
Though it probably would add to your overall enjoyment it’s definitely not essential here.
I especially adored the inclusion of Tori’s son Charlie.
The dynamic between mother and son was so special to behold, he was her original saviour here; compelling her to evolve into a much better version of herself.
It was all about Charlie for Victoria she was so much stronger when it came to fighting for her son rather than just herself.
Throw Lucas into the mix and well; it was just so lovely to observe the new family dynamic slowly emerging and morphing into another life chapter entirely.
I loved the fact that these two were flawed and imperfect and though “Saved by you” was so heartbreakingly poignant at times this also equally made me smile from ear to ear.
Lucas humour was contagious and the sex here; hot as Hades itself.
These two have some real chemistry together.
There is a dash of everything here and it really is an enjoyable read that I’m happy to recommend.
A lovely romantic interlude that left me feeling warm and fuzzy overall.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of “Saved By You (The Spring Rose Bay Series, #3)” of which I have reviewed voluntary.

Until We Are Gone, an all-new

Standalone Emotional Romance by Gia Riley is NOW LIVE!!

I wanted a family with Cash.

We had dreams –building a house, kids, a dog, and, yes, even the white picket

fence.

Or so I’m told.

I don’t remember anything about my husband. Not the wedding or the vows we

shared.

The past ten years were erased and with time, they’re supposed to come back.

But this isn’t your typical case of amnesia

What if I’m not supposed to remember?

What if I was meant to forget?

Maybe I don’t want my old life back.

Because if the accident hadn’t happened, I wouldn’t have uncovered the truth.

Losing my memory wasn’t tragic.

Losing my memory was fate.

Until We Are Gone by Gia Riley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I Really enjoyed this one like a lot, but I am struggling slightly to classify it as it crosses over into genres with a little bit of everything.
So this had such a unique voice when it came to its narration giving us the POV from three individual important players; this, in turn, helped portray them all so realistically with flaws and all.
I found this style of narration so intriguing and it did help me get a handle on why certain individuals behaved they way they did and all through certain actions were in no way condonable it did give me a certain insight and almost unwanted sympathy into why things occurred the way they did.
Human emotions can make us behave in such unfathomable ways that are just beyond our comprehension sometimes.
This is essentially at its heart a mystery with romantic elements and how one woman’s memory loss can impact and steamroll into so much more.
When events started to slowly come to light I felt so much empathy for Meadow and completely understood how she had managed to spiral so out of control in her distress and confusion.
Her memory loss having an almost snowball effect so far did the cause and effect ripple outwards.
Her husband Cash I could also empathise with and I could understand somewhat how he had arrived at the crossroads he had.
I also felt extreme empathy for him as he tried to traverse the daily battlefield that is now his marriage.
Meadow was an absolute nightmare for him to live with as she fell deeper into the bottomless pit that was her despair and utter desperation; using Cash almost as her own personal whipping boy.
This story also dealt with alcohol addiction and the debilitating impacts this dependence can have on the people surrounding us.
I didn’t really think anyone in this story was truly innocent except maybe Logan all else portrayed were imperfect and flawed in some way or other.
But what I did ultimately take away from this, was there were no baddies and goodies here just misguided actions that though essentially wrong were actually done initially for all the right reasons.
And I essentially wanted everyone involved to find some sort of personal HEA regardless of there misguided and imprudent undertakings.
I adored that “Until we are gone” gave everyone a piece of that pie.
This is one story that I was glued to throughout and enjoyed immensely.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of “Until We Are Gone ” of which I have reviewed voluntary.

The fork in the road in front of me screamed go right …

Giano gave me life.
I gave him death.

The path to peace inside of me was covered in his blood.

Could I ever believe in love again?

Instead of going right, though, I veered left into the depths of a world unknown.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

SeekingSolace Banner

So this is the second book in the Love in the Dark series and while I didn’t enjoy this quite as much as its predecessor it still certainly packed a massive punch leaving me reeling with that cliffhanger finale.
This carries on almost instantly after the events of “Stay” and after the shocking finale we were given there understandably Fallyn/Angelina is deep down in a hole of darkness and despair with a life-altering desition straight ahead of her.
Does she reclaim her old life or follow Her Strangers wishes embracing her identity as Angelina.
With the help of her Uncle Zo-Zo Angelina embarks on a whole new pathway leaving her old life behind for fresh new shores and college living.
At first, struggling and feeling adrift without her Giano; Angelina struggles against the tide with feelings of loneliness and isolation almost adrift without a familiar anchor.
But there is one bright spot on the near horizon her new college professor Shawn Patrick and due to the forbidden aspect of there relationship these two start a slow build friendship that eventually culminates in so much more.
She feels an almost instant connection to him and with the parallels of there upbringings.
Shawn himself has walked away from his father’s criminal lifestyle forging his own path ahead as a history professor.
And though Angelina is still knee deep in secrets and lies she falls hard and fast.
So as I said earlier I really enjoyed this; it was dialled back a notch from the previous book concentrating much more on the budding friendship emerging and also Angelinas growing rebirth of healing.
Told again from our girls POV; so you really do get a sense of where her heads at after previous fallout.
“Seeking Solace” does a great job of lulling you into a false sense of security and just when you think maybe out girl is finally due for some overdue peace and happiness; it strikes, like a snake injecting its venom; re-contaminated everything and dragging Angelina back into that world she has so desperately tried to leave far behind in her dust.
That ending; what a shocker that was, like seriously.
So I am so looking forward to the next instalment here and I’m hoping maybe there’s a big pot of karma at the end of the rainbow of ruins that seems to be Angelina’s recurring nightmare.
The poor girl so needs to catch a break.
I for one will be waiting with bated breath for the anticipated outcome here.

Fair Warning … This isn’t a sappy romance. It’s not sweet. It’s far from anything you would want to imagine. This is a story to leave you feeling dirty.

Nothing about us is normal.

Nothing about us is natural.

Can love ultimately be defined in such ways, truly?

This is our story.

He is a hit man, the very one who took my family the night that changed us both forever. Something in my eyes stopped him from killing me. Something in my eyes called out for him to take me.

At ten, he captured me. At fifteen, he consumed me. And at eighteen, he owned me.

Outsiders think he’s my father … That is so far from the truth.

Our twisted desires fuel the darkness that lies deep inside us both. My innocence never existed, and he takes me as I am.

***Warning: Adult content not suitable for readers under the age of 18. This is a dark romance filled with graphic violence and is not to be mistaken as a light read. This is not your typical HEA. You have been warned.***

Stay

Stay by Chelsea Camaron
My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

stay 2-2

This was certainly nothing like what I was expecting but I adored it anyway.
“Stay” tells the story of one tragic little girl’s redemption by a very unlikely saviour.
I didn’t find this a particularly dark read but it definitely had undertones with the physical abuse of a young girl prior to her liberation from the hands of the people who should have been her fiercest protectors.
In this, it’s Her Stranger that takes on the mantle of guardian and unexpected benefactor to a young Fallyn.
In her, this stone-cold hitman sees his second chance at protecting the innocence he still sees in her.
An almost second chance if you will after his life imploded so dramatically; ironically it’s his angel (Fallyn) that gives him a purpose to live for; I say ironic because considering his initial intention it really is.
So I really loved this and honestly didn’t see that ending; it took caught me completely unawares.
Though I do think considering Her Strangers need to protect her things would have gone down slightly differently than they did.
After everything that Giano had done to shield and protect her, I can’t see him then subjecting his Angel to such tortures of the soul and scarring her with recurring memories for years to come; one thing was very apparent here her stranger loved her so deeply so I just can’t see it myself.
That is my only reason for removing half a star here.
This is told all from Fallyn’s POV and it was truly intriguing witnessing the slow metamorphosis from Fallyn to Angelina to the point the two identities merge into one whole new entity entirely.
I also loved the fact we are then treated to two epilogues an almost you decide scenario; I adored that and is it wrong that the darker of the two possibilities is definitely where my own choice was edging towards here.
So This isn’t a rainbows and ribbons type of story, it isn’t even a romance if I had to put a label on this it’s all about loss, redemption and temptation, finding a reason to continue the daily struggle that is life.
But where there is darkness there is also light and I truly believe that Fallyn was this for Giano, his redemption; And in a way, despite the conclusion here these two were each other’s, unexpected saviours, there for each other at a certain crossroads in life.
I’m actually welling up here just writing this review so deeply did this story touch my soul.
This is one bittersweet story that will stay with me for a while and am so very glad to see the author has decided to continue this enthraling saga I for one can’t wait to see where this goes.
A warning before I go this does very briefly at the beginning portray a scene of Fallyn’s abuse by her father; just thought I’d give a heads up in case anyone is triggered by this.
Thank you to the author for providing me with a review copy of “Stay” of which I have reviewed voluntary.

He wants her released into the enclosure. He wants to hunt her.

Recaptured during her escape from zone four, Maci Bishop wakes up in the mysterious, heavily fortified zone two, where wealthy citizens come to sate sordid, homicidal appetites by hunting death row inmates in a wooded enclosure. Live on camera, for spectators watching from the Resort.

Maci is rented as a plaything for a guest at the Resort, but when she kills her first customer in self-defence, her life sentence quickly becomes a death sentence. To teach the other women a lesson, the warden throws Maci into the enclosure, to be hunted alongside a vicious death row inmate named Callum.

Though at first, he believes the beautiful, half-naked woman is bait intended to lure him out, Callum saves Maci from a brutal death. As they fight their way through the enclosure, taking on hunters, guards, and ruthless robotic hounds, he falls hard for the tiny, clever hellcat and discovers she may just have the skills to get them both out of the enclosure alive.

But Maci won’t abandon the other women to pay for her escape. Not again. She won’t be satisfied until she shuts down the entire Resort: clients, guards, hounds, and all. And there’s no way in hell Callum will let her walk into the lion’s den alone…

Hunter is a 75,000+ word novel set on a planet populated by violent criminals, so expect a gritty story about characters who have to fight to protect each other and their relationship.

Red Prison Planet Rhodon

In most cases, the only difference between the guards and the inmates is the uniform each wears

“Hunter” is the second book in the prison planet series and I enjoyed this even more than the first if that’s even possible.
This continues right after the events at the end of book one.
And this time we get to spend time with Maci as she is transferred to zone 2 as entertainment for the wealthy patrons of The Resort.
This book is a totally different ballgame than its predecessor each instalment having such a distinctly unique flavour.
So after accidentally killing one of the paying customers, Maci is thrown into the enclosure alongside fellow death row inmate Callum to be hunted live for the viewer’s amusement by the deceased’s brother.
Think Escape from the New-York / Running Man / The Hunger Games but with super sexy shenanigans and you’ll get the basic picture.

tenor.gif

Unable initially to speak the same language and despite some initial suspicion understandably on Callum’s behalf; these two very swiftly bond; pulled together through there shared experiences and also through utter necessity each needing the others skill-sets for there very survival.
At the onset, their lack of spoken language maybe helping them to bond in a much more physical fashion.
Actions sometimes speaking louder than words.

He lifts a thick strand of my hair to his face and sniffs again. Then he rubs it on his cheek and says a word I hope means soft. Or pretty. Or something complimentary. Anything other than, “After I kill you I’m going to eat your flesh, shave your corpse, and wear your hair as a braided trophy.” Because that would definitely be a mood killer.

What I also loved about this was that though Callum was ultimately the muscle Maci was also no slouch when it came to saving her own butt.
Lacking the physical strength she uses other weapons in her vast arsenal and in a way it’s her actions that change the course of her and Caluums eventual fate.
I also really liked the Callum was secure enough in his own masculinity to appreciate and be impressed by the skills Maci herself brought to the table.

I stare at Maci in awe. Shaw may have thought he was putting her in here to die, but all he’s really done is arm the little tech-ninja with her weapon of choice. My little hell-kitten is crazy smart. She’s just used the warden’s own security system against him.

I also adored how blunt and Alpha Callum was while still managing to convey his affections towards Maci. He was a typical male sometimes not thinking to just express himself verbally expecting Maci to be a bloody mind-reader.

I already told you, hellcat. You’re mine. I’m yours. If that weren’t true, I wouldn’t be here. I wouldn’t have come after you in the enclosure. I wouldn’t have given myself up. I wouldn’t have escorted thirty whining women through the woods in the middle of the night. I’m sorry if it didn’t occur to me to actually say the words, but Maci, I love the hell out of you.

I absolutely adored the overall execution here especially the epic finale we are treated to when Maci goes all GI Jane on their butts. Sometimes the Damsel needs to rescue the prince; loved this so much it was totally epic.
And Callum himself may not be all hearts and flowers but he does express himself with such heartfelt individuality that I just couldn’t help falling for this deadly prison inmate.

Hell yes, you belong to me,” he growls. “And not in that ‘prison dibs’ kind of way. You belong to me like my own fucking hand belongs to me. Like you’re a part of me. And I will fuck up anyone who tries to sever you from me.

See such a way with words has Callum; how could you not bow down and just appreciate his pure masculine yumminess.
There is just so much here to adore and while this has some serious life and death struggles it is also filled with some terrific one-liners and tongue in cheek humour.
Everything thing about this book just worked for me on all levels and I’m am so looking forward to the next exciting instalment I really can’t recommend this series enough.

A woman walks into a police station and tells officers she’s been missing for eight years. She has no phone and no ID, just a piece of paper with a name on it: David Raker.
Raker specializes in locating missing people. After his wife died, they became how he coped and moved on – and, almost a decade later, the disappeared aren’t just his job any more, they’re his life. So when the police call him, Raker agrees to meet the woman.
But this is no ordinary case – and no ordinary woman.
She looks exactly like his dead wife. She knows everything about their marriage, their history, even private conversations the two of them had. And soon, everything Raker thought he knew about his life, and about the woman he loved, will be exposed as a devastating lie.

Extract-You-Were-Gone-Tim-Weaver2

I really loved You Were Gone (David Raker #9) like so much more than I was originally expecting, but had absolutely no bloody idea it was part of an ongoing series; no matter this can totally be read as a standalone no issues whatsoever.
So this was a mind-Eff of epic proportions and I couldn’t put it down such an engrossing read this was.
This had me second guessing along with Raker everything I thought I knew to be true.
Could it be true? was David losing the threads of his very sanity? Who was this woman who claimed to be his wife? Where had she come from?
This had so many twists and turns throughout I felt lost in a maze with no clear exit.
So cleverly executed and with such finesse, this was a pleasure from start to finish.
Not my usual genre but so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone.
This will have you psychoanalysing and dissecting every actuality for hidden messages and meanings and when events eventually reached a conclusion I was seriously shocked at the identity of the puppet master himself.
This was a fabulous addictive Crime Mystery that was glued to my hand till the final curtain.
A complete surprise hit for me.

What’s wrong with my butt?

She means those words to be directed toward the woman beside her, not him. But he can’t stop himself from answering. Not when her ass is the most magnificent thing he’s seen in his life.

Apparently, answering her with ‘not a damn thing’ wasn’t what she was expecting.

She likely wasn’t expecting the baseball she took to the face at his next at bat, either.

All it takes is one ill-fated foul ball, and George Hoffman, Lumberjacks centre fielder, falls head over heels in love with Wrigley Field—and yes, that is her real name.

From that point forward, George and Wrigley fall into a fast whirlwind love that ends with them eloping to Vegas. And he has his potty mouth, titty bar owning, pain in the ass grandmother to thank for it.

Not that he’s complaining or anything.

Who wouldn’t want to be married to a woman that made his heart race like he was in the final game of the World Series?

The only problem is trying to convince her of that.

ARC BOOK REVIEW
Release Date-20/7/18

This was the second book by this particular author I have read and out of the two this one I enjoyed slightly less.
Saying that this was still a good read that was easy to follow and though slightly annoying at times with all the turmoil still kept my attention.
This is a sports romance typically Baseball; being from the UK I don’t really know a whole lot about this sport so I did actually find that quite interesting.
So this story features George Hoffman, the Lumberjacks centre fielder and Wrigley Field; what a name ay.
And the Events that transpire after he manages to knock her out with a ball to the head, Ouch!
What follows is the most amazing and at times ridiculous antics that these to face overcoming hurdles that stand in the way of there own personal road to a HEA and all that jazz.
So I knew as soon as these two started to succumb to there emotions it was all going to go to pot.
With how instantly life fast forwarded on them it was a foregone conclusion really.
The road to that coveted couple-dom is always going to be rocky when it starts out so easy.
Just didn’t realise exactly quite how angsty things were going to get through; these two were seriously like a runaway train with no obvious destination.
Humour, Misunderstanding, heartache and crappy family combined this was like some modern day carry on film.
I actually really liked the style of narrating here but was a bit less stoked about the huge time jumps; to me, they felt a trifle out of whack and disjointed at times.
Making me almost lose my place in the order of events to come.
I felt like we almost sacrificed the getting to know you stage where we build up a picture and understanding of the couple itself for unnecessary angst and drama.
I would have been so much happier with a simpler tale with more emphasis on the earlier emotions rather than the dramatic theatrics.
“Quit My Pitchin” played out in a very rom-com style and at times was extremely entertaining to spectate.
I did like both Wrigley and George and was, of course, rooting for them both all the way.
Told in dual POV this was at its heart an enjoyable experience.
Happy to recommend this one especially if you like a more relaxed style of narration.

Title: Serial Murderess and Lover of the Dead
Series: The Darkness in Faith Books 1-3

Genre: Erotica/Horror 18+

The Darkness in Faith (The Darkness in Faith, #1)

The Darkness in Faith by C.F. Rabbiosi
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Serial Murderess Series

so I’m going to do things a bit different here and review all three books in the Serial Murderess Series together but giving my brief impression on each instalment.
So I’m not normally one for trigger warnings but with this, you need one; this is dark depraved sick stuff proceed with caution.
If like me that sentence is like honey to a bee just be aware that at times this was even a bit too much for me and that’s something I don’t usually say.
There is Rape, murder, torture, necrophilia, cannibalism the list goes on and on so please do take my warning seriously there is the blackest stuff imaginable between these pages.
So this is a hard one, on the one hand, I love to push the boundaries of my tolerances, but here I wasn’t just giving them a nudge I was flat out annihilating and totally flattening everything in its path.
So If you want to just dip your toe into darker waters this isn’t the series to start with; this is completely hardcore.
This series is mainly told from the POV of Faith herself a product of her horrific life experiences in her case a history of rape, torture and slavery.
This girl has some serious issues which have resulted in her fascination with blood and death.
She’s a self-made serial killer who preys on the predators themselves.
Her moral compass is so off course when it comes to dispensing her own personal brand of justice.
So what happens when this necrophilia loving serial killer meets what could be her match made in heaven.
I’m gonna stop you right there; this is not a romance; this is so far from the warm and fuzzies than your ever going to get; Brandon the male interest here, is so not what I would even label; what we like to call an anti-hero.
This is more a psychotic bloody Bonnie and Clyde type journey cross country where Faith and Brandon embark on an all-out pilgrimage to annihilate every person that has ever hurt Faith in the most imaginative ways possible.
The go-to phrase these two start to employ.

This is going to be the most fun we’ve had yet

But this is also a downward spiral into the Pitts of insanity and what happens when you give your demons such a free rein.

The Darkness in Faith
is the onset of the journey where we learn what shapes our two lovers into the individuals they have evolved into.
This is perhaps the mildest of the three books almost a build up to more gruesome events.
It’s still bloody graphic as hell though so be prepared for anything.
In This instalment, we leave Brandon and Faith ready for there mission ahead.

Darkly Dreaming Faith
Portrays there antics as each kill goes down more each imaginative than the last.
Brandon and Faith fall deeper down the rabbit hole with each occurrence sending Brandon on a downward spiral into insanity.
In fact, here it becomes very apparent that Brandon is so much more than he has previously revealed to his new partner in death.
Finally culminating in Faith through self-preservation contemplating going rogue on his butt.

Vicious Faith
The final book in the trilogy and perhaps the most graphic and depraved of all three.
Here all roads come to a head and number five on Faiths list “Gas Mask” in dramatic style manages to turn the tables on Faith.
This was my favourite of the three books and though there where things I had kinda guessed previously here; there were still many shocks that snuck up and caught me unawares.
I adored the shocking conclusion we were given here.
It had an almost karmic justice to it.
Here is where we discover that there are no heroes only predators and events do come full circle in such a shocking finale.

This is not a romance.
There are no heroes in this trilogy only innocents and evil.
This was not easy reading at times but I persevered as I wanted to know the final outcome.
My rating here really reflects my unease with the content matter involved.
“The serial Murderess series” itself really pushed the envelope with me in regards to my comfort levels.
It’s an unapologetic jaunt through a dissolute and perverted playground.
Where everything good and wholesome has been stripped back to the bone and the only thing left behind is viciousness and cruelty.
Enter if you dare but be warned the passage your about to traverse is anything but pretty.
The road ahead of you is paved in blood and tears.
I’m not going to give this a yay or a nay just a give this a go if you think you can handle it and prepare to be appaled.
And again remember my original caution.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of “Serial Murderess Series” of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions are entirely my own.

My name is Faith: Tortured sex slave turned brutal murderer. Men have abused my body for inhuman pleasures, hurt me and made me feel helpless. But now…

They fear me. I wish I could say that it is all for the good of the world that I kill them slowly and give them a taste of what they have made others feel, but that would be a lie. Turns out, I have a lust for blood and get off on making THEM my slave. They may be way past being offended at that point, but I sure enjoy my living dead boys.

Just one small problem. I am falling for my newest conquest and don’t know anymore if I want to tie him up and kill him slowly. He supposedly sexually assaulted a woman horribly ten years ago and is currently on parole for the crime, but something about those genuine sea green eyes and that beguiling mouth makes me weak. I still want to tie him up but what I want to do to him- will make us both scream.

Something about his darkness and pain calls to my own, and he knows I could kill him at any time, but still fights to possess me in every dripping, consuming and tantalizing way.

Come inside if you dare where real sex slave stories are my inspiration and I’ll tell you the story of a serial murderess and the life altering events that made her a Lover of the Dead.

How can I admit to myself that I have fallen for the one thing I fear the most? I should kill him, as I have visited bloody death on many others just like him but…

Instead I have let him inside me. Deeply, painfully and with all-consuming psychotic passion. My body hums when he hurts it, as he’s brought out a hidden side of me that thrives off his rough touch. I have never felt so alive.

Here he is by my side as we travel the country, staying in the finest hotels and savagely getting revenge on those who have sexually tortured me. What a ride. Kill, rough sex. Try to kill each other, more rough sex… And repeat.

But something changes my dark lover with each kill and I fear I will lose him forever. The blood thirsty beast he struggles to keep locked up within thrashes against its cage, and I don’t know how much time we have left together. Oh, but I WILL make the most of it.

Her enemy becomes her lover…

Faith has been caught by the one man she fears the most, but luckily she’s got him beat on crazy. While he likes to make his sex slaves scream, all she can do is laugh. Maybe he’ll just kill the defiant broad… Or will he fall in love and let her be his undoing?

Genre-Paranormal Romance
Kindle Edition-434 Pages

There’s a monster in my basement.

That isn’t a metaphor, in case you were wondering. And it isn’t the tagline to some midnight horror flick. Fact is, Locryn Price is nothing if not a monster. One part human, the other part demon, the guy’s got a slab of ice where his heart should be.

Ironic, considering the rest of him is hot enough to start a fire underwater.

Not exactly what I was expecting to find when I came home from college to surprise my brother. I mean, I always knew Russell was a little warped, but now we have a pissed-off, wisecracking demon in shackles and chains as proof.

The October winds are stirring, bringing more than just storms. Two of our friends are missing. Loc knows something, but he isn’t talking. And to complicate matters further, my former crush Max has joined forces with my brother. They think they’ll get answers using spells and pentacles and brute torture.

But the devil prefers to bargain.

My innocence in exchange for the hostages. Those are his terms.

Now I’m in his world. A world of demons, deception and the sweetest of seductions.

And losing my way in the darkness never felt so good.

After reading that hooking blurb there was no way I was passing this up it all sounded just so deliciously enticing.
And so often these things do disappoint us; failing to deliver on the promised attraction, but not here; this is one story I’m happy to impart that definitely lives up to its hype in every way possible.
Almost instantly upon starting this I was sold and invested for the whole duration “The price of Brimstone” managed to enthral and capture my attention just so effortlessly.
Weaving such an intricate web of misinformation and manipulation all wrapped up so prettily with a side-order of romance and a dash of devilish intent.
Being a new author for me so I wasn’t really sure what to expect here but it was all good and I’m pleased to say I was greatly entertained by this.
So the description here says it all there’s a monster or if you will Demon in Judes basement.
Placed there by her brother Russel and his friend Max so they can attempt to harvest information on the whereabouts of two of there friends.
And after Her brother’s extreme methods of inducement, Jude decides to covertly use her own powers of persuasion with much superior results.
But is she being played by a master manipulator, a demon deceiver and is there a greater power at play here moving its pieces in a macabre chess match; only time and Loc himself has the answer.
So I loved this so much. it was such an unusual tale that really stands out in its genre.
Locryn Price; well in my opinion though this is told from Jude’s perspective apart from a small part at the end (which I adored by the way; so typical Loc) this is his book.
Loc is the standout character that made this such an intriguing read for me without him; well there is just no real pull.
He had all the best one-liners and with his acerbic derisive wit, I couldn’t help panting after him tongue hanging out along with Jude herself as he attempted to transverse the rocky road of his own disinterested humanity.
With his unapologetic askew moral compass, It was then fascinating to spectate as Jude tried to see the best and hone in on his more human attributes.
Sometimes with a lot more success than others.
So amusing being a fly on the wall as Jude tries to explain the concept of Love To a less than impressed Loc.
So this wasn’t major fast paced and was quite a slow drawn out story but it seemed to work.
Managing to build up the anticipation just so nicely.
Amazingly humorous instances combined with an almost intensity at times make “The price of Brimstone” so utterly readable.
I adored the haunted carousel episode with the horses; the internal imagery this inspired within with its vivid prose setting the scene so splendidly.

Nightmares are only dreams that have grown bored of the monotony. They’re so much more interesting if you ask me.

Whether or not they’re bad depends on your point of view. To some nightmares consist of chaos and macabre imagery. That’s why people fear them. You see they don’t appreciate the thrill, the adrenaline rush of not knowing whats going to happen next. What sort of person are you, Judith? Do you embrace your nightmares? or do you run from them?

This was quite a long read in itself but I didn’t find myself drifting as It easily held my attention throughout.
There were not that many developed side characters really only Russel and Max and if I’m honest neither was much to write home about.
Russell himself was such a whiny tantrum throwing brat; just so needed a biotch-slap and Max, well he was just a bit MEH!.
Next, to Locryn he just seemed like such a wet blanket.
Besides these two there was only really Sky. Owen and a few lesser demons.
The main focus here really stays on Jude and Loc throughout which definitely does work.

I only really had some teensy grievances here that caused me to drop half a star and there only minor personal preferences.
I wasn’t struck on the ending here and would have prefered an alternative to what we were given.
I can’t really say much more as have no wish to spoil this for anyone.
I would also have liked to have been subjected to more of Loc’s POV; I’m not the biggest fan of the type of storytelling where we only get one viewpoint, much preferring dual.
As I said earlier we did get a snippet near the end but that was so not enough; it only whet my appetite for more.
So that’s it really; this for me was a fabulous read that I can’t recommend enough.
I would definitely read more Locryn, in fact, I would go as far as to say I need to with that bittersweet finale.
Team Loc all the way for me; I really would love to read more about this fascinating Demon.
